Your pastor, Reverend Richard Barker. “WURK CREW” ‐ SEVEN GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Isaiah 11:2‐3) METANOIA (Gk.): “To allow the spirit to be overturned in order to make it turn towards God…” [Pope St. John Paul II, RECONCILIATION AND PENANCE no. 26 1984] Divine Initiative (God’s Truth) . . . W‐‐‐‐‐Wisdom: "we have the mind of Christ" [1Cor 2:16], the sum of knowledge, right judgment and understanding; paradox of being freed from bondage to sin to accept freely the bonds of divine love; rediscovery of one’s true identity and purpose; the surpassing peace of the human heart U‐‐‐‐‐‐Understanding: truth incarnated in thought, word and deed; seeing things as they really are; prayerful self‐reflection; formation of conscience; certainty of moral law; inmost renewal of heart; sensitivity to others R‐‐‐‐‐‐Right Judgment: informed, reasoned decision‐making; correct knowledge concerning the things to be done; discernment of the good; obligation to defend the rights and ideas of God; defines man’s duties to God; never does evil that good may come of it; validates ideas with deeds; lively sense of responsibility for one’s actions K‐‐‐‐‐‐Knowledge: absolute, eternal and unchanging truth; human reason instructed by faith; discovery of what God alone names as good or evil; always seeks explicit awareness of the divine & natural law; knowing God's will and the true nature of human personhood; distinguishing what has value both on earth and in heaven; informed awareness of sin Human Response (Righteous Deeds). . . C‐‐‐‐‐‐Courage: free will obedience to God in all things; meaningful interior conversion; acceptance of suffering; habit of sacramental reconciliation; to risk /sacrifice one's life and peace for the compelling good of others; search for truth; to live a moral and ethical way of life; to correct human society and put it in right order; serving God and his Church; mastery over sin RE‐‐‐‐Reverence: self‐effacing humility before God; profound respect and devotion for the Church and her Scripture, Tradition & Magisterium; respect for all things sacred and Catholic; “be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” [Mt 5:48]; basic respect for separated Christians and other religions W‐‐‐‐‐Wonder and Awe: the holy "fear of the Lord"; loving God for his own sake; redemptive love giving way to spousal love; the human creature kneeling before God to adore him; consciously acknowledging human fallenness and one’s total dependence on God's sovereign divinity; fullness of hope; to bow before the burning bush to pray, You are God, I am not: “Once you were no people, but now you are God's people”. [1Pet 2:10]
