Overview
InfoPrint® Solutions Company, a Ricoh®-IBM joint venture, is enhancing its
workgroup printer family with the launch of the InfoPrint Color 1836 multifunction
printer (MFP). This new multifunction printer has the same capabilities as the
InfoPrint Color 1826 MFP, but comes standard with more memory, more paper input
capacity, and more toner capacity, Additionally, a new optional 550-sheet input
paper drawer is available.
The InfoPrint Color 1836 MFP offers printing speeds of up to 25 pages per minute

(ppm) for both color and monochrome printing on letter media and up to 23 ppm
on A4 media. Benefits of the InfoPrint Color 1836 MFP include:
• Standard 256 MB of memory
• 650-sheet duo drawer is standard
• New 550-sheet drawer option for 1,450-sheets maximum input paper capacity
• New 8,000-impressions yield black toner cartridge
• New optional swivel printer stand that holds three sets of toner cartridges,
60,000-pages worth of toner
Exact print speeds vary depending on document complexity, system configuration,
software applications, driver, and printer status.

Description
InfoPrint Color 1836 MFP is an all-in-one multifunction printer with color printing,
scanning, and faxing capability. It offers printing speeds of up to 25 pages per
minute (ppm) letter size and 23 ppm A4 size for both color and monochrome
printing. The time to first print is as fast as 13 seconds for monochrome and 12
seconds for color. The multifunction printer comes in the following models:

All models include one 250-sheet drawer, one 550-sheet drawer, a 100-sheet
multipurpose feeder, and a single sheet manual slot standard. One optional 550sheet drawer is supported for a total input capacity of 1,451 sheets. Output capacity
for all models is 150 sheets. Duplex capability is standard.
Memory
The multifunction printer has one slot for SDRAM memory. All models are shipped
with the SDRAM slot populated with a 128 MB DIMM. Optional 256 MB and 512 MB
memory DIMMs are available to replace the 128 MB DIMM. All models have one slot
for flash memory with a 64 MB flash memory option available.
Network connections
The multifunction printer includes 10/100BaseTX Ethernet as standard.
Usage rates
The maximum monthly usage for the InfoPrint Color 1836 MFP is 55,000
impressions. InfoPrint Solutions Company does not recommend printing to the
monthly maximum on a consistent basis.

InfoPrint Color 1836 MFP has five toner darkness levels for color and monochrome.
The default setting is level 4. When printing in color, level 5 is equal to level 4. Refer

Customer responsibilities
InfoPrint Color 1836 is designed as a customer setup unit (CSU). The customer is
responsible for:
• Adequate site, system, and other vendor preparation
• Receipt at the customer location and placement of the printer
• Installation and configuration of the printer and features by following the
installation instructions, including:
– Installing and maintaining cables
– Loading print media and clearing jams
– Performing low-level problem determination
– Ordering and installing supplies and consumables

• Working with InfoPrint Solutions Technical Support to complete low-level problem
determination including:

Maintenance supplies
There are no maintenance supplies for this product. InfoPrint Solutions Company
reserves the right to make available additional replacement maintenance items that
are the customer's responsibility to purchase.
Supply warranties are only for defects in materials and workmanship at the time of
shipment and installation. They are not for print count life or normal wear and tear,
nor for any print count minimum. Contact your place of purchase for warranty return
instructions.
InfoPrint Solutions Company is committed to environmentally conscious programs
for printer supplies. A collection program for used printer cartridges has been
established and return instructions are included in the supply item packaging, with
free return shipping.
End users can contact InfoPrint Solutions Company for the name of a reseller in their

Solutions Company will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone, or
electronically via an InfoPrint Solutions Company Web site. You must follow the
problem determination and resolution procedures that InfoPrint Solutions Company
specifies. Scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call and is subject
to parts availability. If applicable to your product, parts considered Customer
Replaceable Units (CRUs) will be provided as part of the machine's standard
warranty service.
Service levels are response time objectives and are not guaranteed. The specified
level of warranty service may not be available in all worldwide locations. Additional
charges may apply outside InfoPrint Solutions Company's normal service area.
Contact your local InfoPrint Solutions Company representative or your reseller for
country- and location-specific information. This product is covered by the following
types of service.
Customer Replaceable Unit Service and On-site for other selected parts.
CRU: InfoPrint Solutions Company provides replacement CRUs to you for you to
install. CRU information and replacement instructions are shipped with your machine
and are available from InfoPrint Solutions Company upon your request. CRUs are
designated as being either a Tier 1 or a Tier 2 CRU.
Tier 1 CRU: Installation of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If InfoPrint Solutions
Company installs a Tier 1 CRU at your request, you will be charged for the
installation.
Tier 2 CRU: You may install a Tier 2 CRU yourself or request InfoPrint Solutions
Company to install it, at no additional charge.
Based upon availability, CRUs will be shipped for next-business-day delivery.
InfoPrint Solutions Company specifies, in the materials shipped with a replacement
CRU, whether a defective CRU must be returned to InfoPrint Solutions Company.
When return is required, (1) return instructions and a container are shipped with the
replacement CRU and (2) you may be charged for the replacement CRU if InfoPrint
Solutions Company does not receive the defective CRU within 15 days of your
receipt of the replacement.

All furniture products will have a one year (12 months) warranty with delivery
of this warranty through replacement CRUs shipped direct to the customer for
customer installation. After the one year warranty, repair and replacement of the
furniture is customer responsibility.

Standard tier 1 CRU items listed would not apply if the specific product does not
include that function or feature.
On-site Service: InfoPrint Solutions Company will repair the failing machine at your
location and verify its operation. You must provide a suitable working area to allow
disassembly and reassembly of the machine. The area must be clean, well lit, and
suitable for the purpose.
The software utilities (NewSoft Scan Center, Presto Page Manager and ABBYY
FineReader OCR) included on the publications/software CD are as-is applications.
InfoPrint Solutions Company does not guaranty these applications will work within
your system environment. We will provide basic normal technical support for use of
these applications with your MFP. For further assistance we recommend contacting
the software provider.
