The New Forest – Bolton’s Bench

Bring a packed lunch
11.00 Meet at the War Memorial at Bolton’s Bench Car Park SO43 7NL; GR SZ304082.
Drive to Lyndhurst, turn left into the High Street, continue past the Porsche Garage onto the Beaulieu
Road (B3056) and the car park is on the right. There are three car parks in the area. Nearest toilets
are in car park off the High Street. A fairly level leisurely walk around White Moor and the Denny
Enclosure, picnic lunch on route.
Walk should finish 2.30/45pm. Lymington ferry terminal (SO41 5SB) is less than 30 minute’s by car
from the Lyndhurst so we will have plenty of time to check in for the 16.00hrs ferry departure.

Walk 1. Shanklin & Luccombe

Bring a packed lunch
A leisurely ascent to the top of Luccombe Down, then down to Luccombe Village. We follow the coastal
path to Shanklin, from where there is a gentle ascent back to the site. Weather permitting - excellent

Walk 2. Shanklin circular walk

Bring snacks & packed lunch Circular walk
to the coast, from the campsite we join the dismantled railway path to Wroxall. Passing
Appuldurcombe House we cross Stenbury Down on to St Lawrence. We then join the coast path to

A leisurely walk from Brighstone over Brighstone Down to the prettiest street in the IOW, Winkle
Street, Calbourne, then up to Mottistone Down passing the Longstone on the return route. Option to
visit Mottistone (NT) or the Three Bishops P.H. after the walk.

A leisurely walk from Carisbrooke Castle following Lukely Brook and returning via the Shepherds Trail.

Walk to Shanklin Station to catch 09.38am train to Brading. A moderate walk to Bembridge Windmill
(time to visit NT Windmill) then head south to the coast which we follow south over Culver Down to
Sandown and back to Shanklin.

along Tennyson Down, a few short ups and downs to the Needles Old Battery (time to
visit NT) before returning via Alum Bay.
