The life of a Christian steward models the life of Jesus. It is
challenging and even difficult, in many respects, yet intense joy
comes to those who take the risk to live as Christian stewards.
Women and men who seek to live as stewards learn that “all
things work for good for those who love God”. (Rom 8:28) After
Jesus, we look to Mary as an ideal steward. As the Mother of
Christ, she lived her ministry in a spirit of fidelity and service;
she responded generously to the call. We must ask ourselves:
Do we also wish to be disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian
stewards of our world and our Church?
- USCCBB pastoral letter on Stewardship.

Note from Father Bill
Before I entered the seminary I worked as a Produce Manager in a supermarket. I had worked in many grocery stores during my high school and
college days. I always started out in the grocery department and I always seemed to end up working in the produce departments. When I was in
high school my first job in produce was being assigned to make fruit baskets for Christmas. For over thirty years now I have continued making
fruit baskets at Christmas time with the youth of the parishes. Last year, for the first time, I worked with the youth of Good Shepherd Catholic
Community making fruit baskets for Christmas. We made over 200 baskets of which 90 baskets were donated! This year we will be making them
again. Below you will find information about this year’s Fruit Basket Project.
God’s blessing and peace, Father
Fruit Basket Project
Bill
Good Shepherd Catholic Community Youth and members of the Confirmation Class will be working with Father Bill making fruit baskets for Christmas. The youth will be selling three size baskets for: $10.00, $12.50 and $25.00. You may want to buy one for yourself or your family, or one to
give as a gift for that hard to buy for person. You may also wish to donate a basket. Donated baskets will be delivered to people in our parishes
who are sick, housebound, or needy. A donated basket would be a beautiful way to tell the sick, needy and housebound that the parish community cares for them. Orders will be taken for the Fruit Baskets after all the Masses on the weekends of Nov. 28/29 and Dec. 5/6. Or you can fill
out the order form at the bottom of this page and return it in the Sunday collection basket the next few weeks or drop it off at the parish office.
This project will be a fund raiser for our parish and will help support youth ministry. The money raised will be used to help pay for the youth retreats and workshops that are available for our young people through the Diocesan Youth Ministry.
Their will be two pick-up dates for orders this year. You can order your baskets for the weekend of December 13/14 or the weekend of December 20/21. Ordered baskets can be picked up at church after all the Masses on those weekends. Please consider supporting this worthwhile
project, it benefits so many people of all ages.
