The course incorporates the Granite Trail on Mt Clarence and the streets of Albany, and finishes in the recently rejuvenated city centre. The race is more than 2km long, descending over 150m through natural rock gardens, man-made jumps, over truck beds and cars and up a near-vertical timber wall. The Urban Downhill Race is fast becoming a drawcard in Albany. This year will be the third year that the race is held in the Albany city centre attracting more than 3000 spectators. An urban downhill takes the sport of downhill mountain biking from the typical bush environment to the urban environment, using typical urban features such as walls, drains, cars, stairs and buildings to recreate the thrill of the sport in a rider-orientated, but also a spectator-friendly, environment.
