Urban Downhill Race
The Albany Mountain Bike
community believe that Albany’s
landscape is perfectly suited to an
adventure riding event. The course
incorporates the Granite Trail
on Mt Clarence and the streets
of Albany, and finishes in the
recently rejuvenated city centre.
The race is more than 2km long,
descending over 150m through
natural rock gardens, man-made
jumps, over truck beds and cars
and up a near-vertical timber wall.
The Urban Downhill Race is fast becoming a drawcard in Albany. This year will be the third year that the race is held in the
Albany city centre attracting more than 3000 spectators. An urban downhill takes the sport of downhill mountain biking from
the typical bush environment to the urban environment, using typical urban features such as walls, drains, cars, stairs and
buildings to recreate the thrill of the sport in a rider-orientated, but also a spectator-friendly, environment.

Remembrance Day
The National Anzac Centre – Winner of
the State Heritage Awards and State
Tourism Awards 2015
Remembrance Day in Australia is dedicated to Australians who died as a result of war, particularly in World War 1 onwards. A minute of
silence is dedicated to the deceased, especially for soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation.
In Albany, the National Anzac Centre is a place dedicated solely to honouring the Anzacs of the World War 1. Set within Albany Heritage
Park, the Centre offers visitors a deeply personal connection with the Anzac legend revealed through interactive multimedia displays, unique
artefacts, rare images and film and audio commentary.

Happy Christmas
Are you prepared for the summer
season?
Volunteer bush fire brigades carry out
a vital community service for the City
of Albany. Brigades are always seeking
new members and welcome people
who are prepared to join, carry out
training and assist in fire prevention,
firefighting or incident support. It is
a great way to make friends, get to
know your community and make an
important contribution. To join, contact
the City of Albany or your local fire
control officer.
