8 principles that IFA members stand for

Institute of
Financial Advisers
Helping you succeed as
a professional adviser.
IFA - The trusted and vital
professional body for financial
advisers in New Zealand
We exist to help our members succeed as professional advisers.
We keep members informed and up to date with the ever-changing
industry, providing a continuous stream of up-to-date factual
information. We do not have vested interests, so the information we
provide is factual and objective and will assist you to make quality
decisions about your business in this industry.
There are numerous member committees within the IFA focused on improving key areas for
members including education and professional development, advice disciplines, ethics and
best practice and events such as the annual Financial Awareness Week.
The IFA is the only pure “professional association” for financial advisers in NZ. There are
other industry organisations providing value to advisers, but there is only one professional
body.
The IFA has a robust complaints and disciplinary process as any professional body must.
It is independent of the governance and management of the Institute, and cannot be
influenced by the organisation. Consumers and advisers alike have faith in its independent
judicial processes.
If there is an issue affecting financial advisers, we make sure your voice is heard. We often
work quietly in the background (not every battle is best fought in the media) to achieve the
best outcome. We represent our members by working through our excellent relationships
with government, regulators, institutions and industry leaders.
