JAGUAR JOURNAL St. John the Baptist School N e w s l e t t e r – Issue 6 A MESSAGE FROM MRS. MEYMANN September 23, 2016 Tonight is the Parish Picnic at Stricker’s Grove! What better way to celebrate the end of summer than spending the evening riding rides with your friends and family and eating yummy picnic food under the stars? The fun begins at 5:00 p.m. This event is FREE, however donations are gladly accepted to offset the cost to the parish for renting the amusement park for the evening. Canned good donations are also being accepted at the door and will benefit St. Vincent de Paul. I hope to see you there! Our School Fundraiser, the Walk-a-Thon, is fast approaching and we are nearing our goal of $16,000. Mr. Morgeson’s 6th grade homeroom continues to lead the school as the top fundraisers. Who will surpass them? Will we meet our goal? Will our students earn 5 Mondays of out of uniform days in October? Will we raise enough funds to keep presenting terrific programs to our kids such as COSI on Wheels, as we have for the past few years? Sunday’s Gospel LK 16:19-31 ‘…If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.’” Ask your child what they learned this week during their 90 minutes with COSI? Implementing this particular, educational assembly requires the help of many parent volunteers. Thank you to all who joined us and oversaw a table in the gymnasium so all students could investigate the hands on learning experiences intended to teach children about the human body. Extra appreciation to PTC chairperson, Cindy Abrams for coordinating our volunteers and the COSI program for our students. Younger students may need to be walked to their classroom after being signed in, as many do not know how to get to their classroom from the office and we do not permit students to cross between buildings all alone. At afternoon dismissal, those picking up car riders should enter our parking lot by 3:25 p.m. Cones are placed across entrances at that time to protect our kindergarten students as they exit the buildings to meet cars or buses.
