General
Specific
(Please include content standards covered and explanation of assessment method.)
Information literacy and the research process meet Common Core Standards across the curriculum in
College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards for Writing (7,8,9) and Reading Standards for
Informational Text (1,4,7,8.) The assessment reflects students’ knowledge of and ability to effectively
use research skills beyond “Googling” a topic.
Student Growth Objective
At least 70% of the students will increase their score by 50% between October and May of this school
year.
Baseline Data
(Please include what you know about your students’ performance/skills/achievement levels at the beginning of the year, as
well as any additional student data or background information used in setting your objective.)
These students have qualified for the G & T program in the past. No recent assessments have been
made to date. Informal observations of students engaging in research reveal ignorance of more
sophisticated research strategies, which could focus and direct their searches more efficiently. A
formal written pre-assessment (attached) was administered on October 28. The average score was
26% on the pre-assessment.
