POLICIES & REMINDERS
ABSENCES | Excused and Unexcused
Ten Day Absence Rule
There is a cap of ten (10) total absences (excused) per class per semester. This includes excused vacation days, college visits, drivers test,
etc. If a student misses more than 10 days, credit for the class may not be awarded based on this policy. Parents/guardians will receive
notification of the third (3rd), fifth (5th) and tenth (10th) absence in a course. Six (6) unexcused tardies in a course will equal one (1)
unexcused absence for that course and apply to the Ten Day Absence Rule. Failure of parent/guardian to contact (phone/email) the
attendance office by 9:00am the following day will result in an unexcused absence and apply toward both the Ten Day Absence Rule and
student’s county truancy program. Students are expected to attend their study hall. On any unexcused absence, the teacher will address
such absences with the student and parent. Absence from study halls will be treated as it would be with a regular class

Two important reminders for students regarding appointments during the school day:

Please bring documentation from your appointment to the Attendance Office so that your absence may be excused. For
example – a note from your doctor or your appointment card. Otherwise you will be responsible to make up the time missed from
class.


All students 6th grade and up must have his/her student ID to get in to sporting events. Students 5th grade and under must be accompanied
by a parent or guardian at sporting events.
A reminder to all students that it is state law as well as school policy that anyone under the age of 18 found with tobacco will be cited and
suspended from school. Students over the age of 18 found with tobacco on school grounds will be suspended. There is absolutely NO
smoking or tobacco use on school grounds!
Any student that displays un-sportsmanlike behavior at ANY athletic contest by using inappropriate language, signs, gestures, etc. will be
removed immediately and said student will be suspended from attending any further athletic contests. You will receive NO warnings.
Students that are released early for athletic events are not to leave before the assigned time. Students that leave before their appointed
time will be subject to disciplinary action.
This is a reminder that no hunting equipment like shotguns, knives, bow and arrows, or ammunition is allowed on school property. District
241 has a Zero Tolerance policy for weapons on school property.
