Human rights activist, pioneer for racial equality, internationally recognized expert on sports issues, scholar and author, Dr. Richard E. Lapchick
is often described as “the racial conscience of sport.” He is President and CEO of the National Consortium for Academics and Sport (NCAS) and

As the founder and president of the NCAS, Dr. Lapchick helped create a program to increase awareness of human trafficking. Targeting 10
U.S. colleges and universities, the NCAS launched the Shut Out Trafficking (SOT) initiative during the 2014-15 school year. This initiative
brought together prominent student-athletes, coaches, athletic administrators and students for a one-week program on each campus to raise
awareness about human trafficking in the United States and inspire students to take action. The event reached nearly 20,000 students and will
continue again in the 2015-2016 school year. Shut Out Trafficking is a partnership with the US Fund for UNICEF.
