Jas 5:7 In the second reading this weekend, we once again receive the message of Children’s Museum Student Council Meeting being patient and waiting. When I read this reading, my mind instantly pulled up the memory of my husband singing the start of John Foley’s song, “Patience People” to DECEMBER 15 our children whenever there was a skirmish at the dinner table or an eruption of 2016 Christmas Program @ 7:00 emotions because of differing opinions. The children didn’t necessarily enjoy the in Greenfield Central HS song or having it sung to them, but it was enough to make them pause and think. It was through this simple action that “the coming of Christ” had an opportunity to enter…to influence their thoughts and actions. May we each continue our practice of patience this Advent and pause to allow for “the coming of Christ.” Mrs. Diehr’s 4th grade class have been waiting on the results of a resent storybook contest they entered. Hot off the presses, we are proud to announce that the fourth Auditorium NO ROBOTICS CLUB THIS NIGHT! DECEMBER 21- JANUARY 4 Winter Break grade of St. Michael Catholic School WON the Vectren Create-a-Story for the Indiana and Ohio regions!!! Using teamwork, they wrote, illustrated, and edited a Mission Statement story on natural gas safety. There efforts earned them $500 classroom grant. Way Led by the Holy Spirit, St. Michael's to go! Catholic School encourages our Next week will be busy with Christmas program rehearsals and practices. Our students to grow in their Catholic production of “Dude you Hear What I Hear?” will take place in the Greenfield faith, achieve academic Central High School Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00. The Crusader As we have launched the beginning of another liturgical year and will soon begin another calendar year, many are starting to inquire about our 2017-18 school calendar. Look for its publication by the end of January (possibly sooner). Winter temperatures have definitely set in this week. Again, please remember to send hats, coats, and gloves with students. Outdoor recess will still occur as long as temperatures stay above freezing. If needed, school delays or cancellations will be communicated via our school calling system, posted on local TV stations, and sent out on Facebook. Thanks to all who have already made contributions to the Tax Credit Scholarship Fund. There has been a dramatic drop in the amount of credits left in just one week’s time. The supply has dropped by nearly $500,000 in just 5 days! As of December 8, only $1,808,092 remain. Anyone interested in donating to this fund, receiving a 50% state tax credit, and assisting students in our area receive a quality Catholic education at St. Michael School can check out the details online at http://www.i4qed.org/sgo/donors . As individuals and business push to make contributions before the end of the year, these remaining credits will go quickly! After this time only cash and carry purchases of what we have on hand. Dig out your leis and Hawaiian shirts! Plans are underway for the February 4th Winter Luau! Right now we are in need of baskets/items for the silent auction. Each classroom plans to put a basket together, but we need more entries. Last year we had around 30 entries. As of right now, we only have around a dozen. Keep an eye out for good deals while shopping. If you would be willing to put together a basket or donate items, please contact Sara Pechin or MaryAnn Crisman. We have about a dozen games planned for the Winter Luau (a few 'oldies-but-goodies' and lots of new). We will ask that each classroom (parents) be responsible for running a game that day. The Luau is from 10am-3pm so (5) one hour slots or (10) 30min. slots is all it will take to cover your classroom's game. Scecina’s Winter Christmas Concert is December 11 at 3 p.m. The band, orchestra, choir, and women’s choir will all perform some holiday classics! The Crusader CYO athletes in boys basketball and girls cheerleading are invited to CYO Night at Scecina on Friday, Dec 16 th for the Scecina vs. Speedway boys basketball game. All East Deanery students get into the game for free – be sure to wear your jerseys! Students will also receive a hot dog, chips and drink with opportunities to win prizes. Team players and their coaches will be announced before the varsity game. Please arrive by 6:30pm. For those interested in visiting our bookstore, it will be closed the mornings of December 6, 7 and 8 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). The Crusader The eighth grade has tied pictures and synonyms to vocabulary words to help make their meaning come alive. The Crusader The Crusader Students in grades 2nd through 8th recently participated in STEM during GYM!! Students had to work as a team to draw and construct something that could transport a ball from one side of the gym to the other. Students had to do sit-ups, push-ups, jumping jacks, planks and wall sits in order to earn the supplies needed to construct their designs. The Crusader The Crusader The Crusader
