PROJECT BRIEF
52m Width Span
The client, Hay Australia partners leading dairy, beef and equine businesses
throughout the world, reliably supplying quality fodder. Hay Australia recently
engaged Wheatbelt Steel to design and build their new production facility near
Yerecoin in the Victoria Plains shire, Western Australia. This facility then
required a supporting large open front shed for the storage of its premium
export grade hay. Client also wanted the same creative “barcode” cladding
finish on the building’s prevailing wall to match the original workshop & processing plant shed.
WHEATBELT STEEL’S ANSWER
A (120m x 52m x 9m) structural steel shed with wide span parallel cord web
trusses and RSJ columns. The building included wide 8m bay spacings to allow
safe and easy access for telehandler machines used to unload hay off incoming
trucks and stack into the shed. All steelwork was shot blasted to Class 2 and
painted with Industrial Enamel Grey (75 Microns) for long lasting quality finish.
