Your Perfect Wedding Venue on the banks of the Thames With spectacular views across the Thames that take in a range of iconic London buildings – including Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, The Shard and the Tate Modern – The Pepys is a hidden gem in the heart of the City, and a perfect location for any function. With a capacity of 200 and flexible seating/ entertaining areas, we can accommodate all aspects of your event, whether it be a Champagne reception or sit-­‐down banquet. From a table for 2 or exclusive use of the venue, our friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff are experienced in running many successful events. The Pepys is available for exclusive hire on Saturdays and Sundays and a late licence is available on request. Our Venue Situated on the north bank of the Thames in the City of London, the bar boasts a balcony and floor to ceiling windows with stunning river front views across the Thames from the Shard to the Millennium Bridge, looking directly across the water to The Globe Theatre and Tate Modern. Shaped like a horse shoe, the bar is separated into three distinct but adjoining areas, offering 2500sqft of lateral space. We understand that there has been a pub on this site for over a century. However, the current venue was converted from a Victorian warehouse in the late nineties, retaining the bare brick walls and many character features throughout. A recent refurbishment encompassing stunning design and modern decor set off a fashionable ‘loft’ feel. Main Bar Once you have travelled up the spiral staircase you are welcomed into the main bar area. A relaxed area with a choice of soft seating and casual bar stools allow the guests to feel the full atmosphere of The Pepys whilst watching our cocktail bartenders mix up the perfect drink. Globe View Walk though the main bar area and you reach Globe View offering panoramic views of The Thames and iconic buildings through floor to ceiling windows. The Balcony Bar We are exceptionally proud of our balcony bar. Spectacular views of The Thames and the Globe Theatre, best enjoyed from the balcony. This minimum spend will be dependent on the date and time of the function. Payments For exclusive hire of the venue we ask for an initial deposit of £300 to secure the date. Full payment must be made a minimum of one month beforehand. Deposits for smaller parties are by arrangement. Service Charge We aim to deliver exceptional standards of service regardless of budget. All bookings will be subject to a flat rate service charge, not a % of the final bill. Door Security When hiring The Pepys on an exclusive use basis it is important to be aware of the following: The door to the venue will remain open throughout the day/evening, it is unlikely that any member of the public would chose to enter the premises; however, for additional piece of mind, door security can be arranged for an additional charge. This is through a separate company. Where no security is requested, signs will be displayed stating that The Pepys is closed for a private engagement. Opening Times The venue is open until 23:00 with guests asked to leave by 23:30. Where the whole venue is being hired exclusively, a later licence until 00:00 with guests asked to leave by 00:30 is available for an additional charge. Music Where the whole venue is being hired exclusively, you are welcome to play your own music through our internal speakers using an iPod or laptop. If you wish to hire a DJ or have any other form of live music, this must end at 11pm, regardless of whether the later licence is chosen. Decorations The Pepys does not provide any decorations. We are, of course, able to help you with the arrangement, accept deliveries and offer advice. Please note, that where decorations, cakes etc are delivered to The Pepys in advance of the event, no liability or responsibility is taken for the safety or condition of these items. The Samuel Pepys will use best endeavours to keep all goods in the condition they were delivered. This is not a service that is charged for and is offered as goodwill. Any items left after the event must be removed within two weeks -­‐ we have very little storage facilities.
