Championship Director
World Junior Squash Championships 2017
Background

BOP Major Squash Events Inc is an Incorporated Society which has been granted the right to
deliver the World Junior Squash Championships by Squash New Zealand in Tauranga.

BOP Major Squash Events Inc is responsible for planning and delivering the World Junior
Squash Championships primarily in Tauranga in 2017. A separate Hosting Agreement has
been signed between SNZ and BOP MSE to deliver the WJC2017.

The WSF Women’s World Junior Team & Individual Championships comprises three events
featuring both men’s and women’s junior individual events which take place together; and are
followed by a Women’s Junior Team Championship.

The Event will be held on 18-29 July 2017.

BOP Major Squash Events Inc has a clear vision to deliver the best World Junior Squash
Championships ever and one of its objectives is to ensure that its partners and stakeholders
are with them on the journey.
Key Purpose of Role
The purpose of the role is to support the WSF Technical Director to oversee the technical on-court
aspects and overall conduct of the Championship.

Key Functions of the Role
1. Develop and Deliver the Competition Plan
a. Ensure robust planning and delivery in all aspects of on-court Competition plan,
delivering the Plan within agreed timeframes.
b. Support the integration of Visual Reality’s Tournament Planner programme match
administration as well as display and print services to include:
i. Draw formats
ii. Court schedules
iii. Orders of play
iv. Referee and Assessor allocations
v. Match display cards with national flags
vi. Scoreboard projection of major matches for public viewing
vii. Internet linkage
viii. Public display board kept up-to-date in prominent position in the main
venue during each day’s play and at the main hotel at the end of each day’s
play
ix. Collection and Entering match results. Detailed results to be sent to the WSF
Office within 24 hours of the completion of the Championship.
c. Coordinate practice court schedules
d. Ensure that the WSF Championship Regulations are applied correctly and advise on
matters as they arise.
e. Assist team managers with any queries or concerns with regard to the on-court
competition.
2. Support of WSF Technical Director
a. Assist with the administration requirements of the WSF Seeding Review Board.
b. Support the Championship Adjudicating Panel (CAP) who are responsible for
handling any appeals against team orders, eligibility or player fitness/replacement
as well as any other appeals raised on-site during the Championship.
3. Support of Key Staff
a. Support the Event Logistics Manager and Marketing & Communications Manager
as and when required.
b. Support the recruitment of voluntary roles with regard to the Competition
Management.
4. Financial Understanding
a. Ensure a robust financial understanding of the event budget
b. Work to agreed event budget and ensure full visibility
c. Identify areas for cost saving or revenue opportunities.
Remuneration
The role is a part time fixed term contract. Rate is between $15K-$20K dependant on experience
and skills. The successful applicant is required to be available in Tauranga.
