The campus building program has gained momentum:
• The school is in the final stages of construction. Pray that it will be completed for an early August move.
• The permit for the Blackrock duplex construction was granted. Foundations are being poured in preparation for volunteer building crews to begin this summer. Pray for good crews, smooth
coordination and blessing upon the whole project.
• Plans for the gym/ministry center and campus residences are moving along steadily. Pray that we will have wisdom in knowing how to proceed with construction in a way that does not disturb our church, school and community ministries.
• Faithful lead supporters have provided financial backing for the final phase of our capital campaign. Pray for our efforts as we seek to raise the final $2M to complete the building program.
• Support for this endeavor has taken many forms. Among them are donated building materials and services. Pray that we will be good stewards of every gift we receive.
• Four mission work teams from the west Michigan area, Jamestown, Ideal Park, Ridgewood and Immanuel Christian Reformed Churches, will be here to assist us this summer. Pray that their ready service will enable us to minister in the community as well as assist the move to the new school building.
In all these things: Praise God!

Celebrating God’s Faithfulness
On May 20, the Zuni Christian Reformed
Church heard the professions of faith and
witnessed the baptisms of Adun NatewaSchoepfer and Carmichael Kallestewa. Adun is
an eighth grader at our school and Carmichael
is a former student who has, across the past
couple years, been discipled by Pastor Mike
and others. Celebrate with us the Lord’s
faithfulness. Your prayers have been part of
God’s work in their lives.

Learning—it’s at the core of life; it’s the intentional core of education. Sometimes, it is the
unplanned outcome of circumstances. For example, the building project in which we are now
engaged: I’ve learned things that I had no intention of ever learning, things like dirt compaction,
firewalls and the acoustics of floor tile. But, as both a teacher and a learner, I know that curiosity,
a little intellectual enthusiasm, has the power to elevate learning from the commonplace to the
holy.
Consider this story:
Each spring, an amazing bunch of high school students from Valley Christian High School in
Cerritos, California, make their way to Zuni Christian Mission School. For a week, they invest
their lives into ours. The high school kids become the teachers of a wonderful smorgasbord of
mini-courses ranging from robotics to rocketry, from anatomy to insects.
In the first and second grade classroom, three high schoolers taught a short social studies unit
by introducing the children to several different countries. One day was Korea; another day was
Spain; another day was France. The kids took great delight in learning how to greet one another
and count in each country’s language. After the language section of the lesson came a barrage
of questions from the children. The dialogue went something like this:
“How do you say ‘dog’ in French?” “Chien.” How do you say ‘house’ in French?” “Maison.”
“How do you say ‘mom’ in French?
“Mère.”
And so forth.
In the middle of the banter came small voice, “How do you say ‘zero’ in California?”
What a wide wonderful world is ours to know and to enjoy—even that mysterious land called
‘California’! It is no small thing when we, like the little boy, recognize and embrace the breadth
and beauty of the unknown. Bit by bit, we come to know that goodness has a Maker. Insight
by insight, the crooked path is straightened. Fragment by fragment, our souls settle into the
Savior’s embrace.

For a week, the ‘California kids’ of Valley Christian High School give themselves away for the sake of the Gospel. We are so grateful.
