The DMK’s nonagenarian leader Mr
M.Karunanidhi is seeking re-election from the
seat. It is his native constituency. Normally he
seeks to get elected from any constituency in
Chennai. But after Tiruvarur was delisted from
reserved constituencies, he contested in
Tiruvarur in 2011 and got elected. This time
again, he is contesting from there. A total of
15 candidates are in the fray including him.
His prominent opponents in the seta are Mr
R.Panneerselvamfrom the AIADMK, Mr
P.S.Masilamani of the CPM as part of the

DMDK-PWF-TMC combine, Mr N.Rengadass
from the BJP & Mr R.Sivakumar from the PMK.

Kolathur

The DMK treasurer Mr MK Stalin seeks reelection from the seat for the second time
from this seat. The total number of candidates
is 24. Prominent contestants against him
include Mr JCD Prabhakar of the AIADMK, Mr
P.Mathivanan of the DMDK, Mr S.Gopal of the
PMK and Mr KT Raghavan of the BJP.

Ulundurpettai

The DMDK founder President Mr Vijaykant,
who is also the chief ministerial candidate of
the DMDK-PWF-TMC combine, is contesting in
this constituency for the first time. 25
candidates including him are in the fray. His
prominent contestants include Mr
R.Kumaraguru from the AIADMK, Mr GR
Vasanthavel from the DMK and Mr K.Balu
from the PMK.

Virugambakkam

The Tamil Nadu state Unit of the BJP
President Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan is
contesting for the first time in this
constituency. Total noof candidates is 20. Mr
K.Thanasekaran from the DMK, Mr VN Virugai
Ravi from the AIADMK, Mr B.Parthasarathy
from the DMDK and Mr C.H.Jayarao from the
PMK are the other prominent contestants.

The PMK’s Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, who is the
party’s chief ministerial candidate, is
contesting in this seat. Total number of
contestants is 15. Prominent opponents
include Mr KP Munusamy of the AIADMK, who

the DMK, Mr N.Nanjappan of the CPI as part
of the DMDK-PWF-TMC combine.

Mr O.Panneerselvam of the AIADMK, who
served as the chief minister when Ms
Jayalalithaa was dethroned by judiciary on
charges of disproportionate assets, is
contesting in this seat. The total number of
candidates is 23. His main opponents in the
seat is Mr S.Lakshmanan of the DMK, Mr A
Veerabhadran of the DMDK, Mr A
Ramakrishnan of the PMK and Mr V
Venkateswaran of the BJP.

Cuddalore

The Naam Tamilar party leader and cine
director Mr Seeman contests in the seat. His
party is considered as a linguistic outfit. Total
number of candidates is 14. Prominent other
candidates in the seta include Mr MC Sampath
from the AIADMK, a minister, Mr
Ela.Pugazhendi of the DMK, Mr AS
Chandrasekaran of the TMC (Tamil Maanila
Congress floated by former Union Minister Mr
GK Vasan) which is a part of the DMDK-PWFTMC combine, Mr Pazha.Thamaraikannan of
the PMK and Mr P.Selvam of the BJP.

Kattumannarkoil

Mr Thol.Tirumavalavan, leader of the VCK, a
Dalit outfit, is contesting in this seat, as part
of the DMDK-PWF-TMC combine. Total
candidates: 10. Mr N.Murugumaran of the
AIADMK, Dr KI Muniretinam of the Congress,
Mr A.Sozhan of the PMK and Mr SP Saravanan
of the BJP are the other major contestants.
