I chose this book because it
made me laugh an
uncountable number of
times. It is by far my favourite book ever. When
you finish reading this book you will want to read
more in the series and that is why I chose this
book for my legacy book. I recommend this
series for Grades 4 and 5.
I chose this book because it
has a great story line and I
really enjoyed reading it. It is
set in Paris and starts when a
girl, who is found floating in a cello case, meets a
foster boy living on the rooftops who tries to
help her find her mum. I loved the characters
and the setting is so cool. I recommend this book
for ages 9+.
The Jewel Box Ballerinas
Heroes of Olympus Series
Donated by Olivia Beatty
Donated by Jerry Liu
I chose this book because I
think has a very deep
message mixed within a
great story line. It is a good
book for all ages, especially Kindergarten to
Grade 3. I really enjoyed reading this book when
I was younger and I hope that you will as well.
I chose the Heroes of Olympus
Series because it has a lot of
humour and action and great
characters based on Greek
mythology. I liked these books so much I read
them over and over. I recommend these books
for grades 3 to 5.
Wolves of the Beyond Series
Donated by Katherine
Hooton
I chose Lone Wolf because if
you ever feel left out, after
reading this book you will no longer feel left out.
I chose Shadow Wolf because it is awesome and
a great book to read. These books compliment
the Guardians of Ga’Hoole series because the
wolves appear in both series. Enjoy the life
journey of this wolf, Faolan. Recommended for
Grades 3 and up.
in love instantly. This book has cute pictures and
funny pictures and a little bit of text. I
recommend this book for Grades 3, 4, and 5.

The Land of Stories –The
Wishing Spell
Donated by Sofie Quon
I chose this book because it
is awesome and adventurous
with a bit of violence. It has
clever and interesting stories as to why fairy tale
characters do weird things. I recommend this
book for Grades 4 and 5.
Artemis Fowl – The Time
Paradox
I chose this book because it
can teach you history about
the Franklin Expedition. It
has lots of adventure mixed with knowledge. It
also teaches you about the extreme conditions
that members of the expedition endured, such
as blizzards, extreme cold, and food shortages. I
recommend this book for Grades 4 and 5.
Bunnicula Strikes Again!
Donated by Alexandra Brown
Donated by John Duffey
I enjoy this series because it
is interesting and just so fun
to watch Artemis’s plan
unfold. I chose “The Time Paradox”, because it
isn’t in the library and it is my FAVOURITE title in
the series so it SHOULD be there. In this book,
Artemis takes his knowledge to a new level. I
recommend this book for all who can read it,
primarily from Grade 3 to the end of your life!
Harlow & Sage (and
Indiana)
Donated by Anna Fowler
I chose this book because I
am a dog lover and when I
see a picture like this I fall
I recommend this book
because it is a funny action
novel that stars 3 house pets:
a puppy, a dog, and a cat.
They have to deal with an evil bunny called
Bunnicula (at least Chester the cat thinks it’s
evil)! The characters are all very different and
make the story better, plus it is super fun to read
a book from an animal’s point of view. I
recommend this book for strong grade 2 readers
to beginner grade 5 readers.
Little House in the Big
Woods
Middle School Get Me Out
of Here!
Donated by Alexandra
Brown
Donated by Willem
Sytsma
I chose this book because
you learn about Laura’s
life which takes place
about 140 years ago. She lived on a farm and for
fun she would play with her doll, not video
games! This shows me that living back then was
different, especially in the big woods. Plus the
characters and settings are well developed. I
recommend this book for grades 2 and up.
I chose this book because
I think it is great for kids
who are about to go to
middle school but I think it’s a bit worse in this
book than in the outside world. Also it is great
for kids who have siblings because there is a lot
of sibling rivalry, which I think most of you have
and it is very funny. This book is best for Grades
Four and five.
A Boy and a Bear in a Boat
The Giver
Donated by Markus Muller
Donated by Erik Lin
I chose “A Boy and a Bear in
a Boat” because it has just
the right amount of
adventure and it has
enough detail. Two of the
most unlikely friends become friends because of
misfortunes and conflicts that they work their
way through together. This book takes place in
present day. I recommend this book for Grade 3
to Grade 4.
I chose this book because I
thought The Giver was a
really good book, and it
teaches you the meaning
of life. It is set in a little
town where everything is assigned and
controlled. One boy is given the knowledge of
the world outside. Read as he discovers the
history of his community and must decide
whether to share it. It is a page turner and I
recommend it for Grades 4 and up.
Hatchet
Donated by Matthew Bulla
Emily – Our Canadian Girl
Donated by Nevaeh
Miller
I chose Hatchet because it
is a really nice survival
story. It has a lot of detail
and I can really imagine
what the author is telling
me. It is very exciting. I recommend this for
people who enjoy exciting adventure stories in
Grades 4 and 5.
I chose this book
because it was one of
the first books that I
really liked. The book is
about a girl who grows up in Victoria in the late
1800s. It tells about her adventures over two
different summers and is based on important
things that happened in Victoria’s history. I liked
recognizing different places, like Chinatown, and
people, like Emily Carr, in the story. I would
recommend this book for Grades 3 and up.
lives and appreciates nature. It’s a soothing calm
story in English and Spanish. I think everyone
would enjoy it, but I especially recommend it for
Grades 1 to 3.
Camp X
Donated by Sam Shariaty
I chose this book because I
really like Eric Waters books.
He writes very inspiring
books with lots of detail. In
this book, two brothers
stumble upon a spy training camp in Canada in
World War 2. You might be surprised to know
that this training school for spies really existed. I
recommend this exciting spy story for Grades 4
and 5.
Chester’s Masterpiece
Donated by Cypress
LeBlanc
I chose this book because it
is funny and artistic with
great illustrations. The
book is not too long or too short, it is just right in
the middle. If you want to read more Chester
stories, there are 2 more books to go along with
this one. This book is recommended from K-3.
This House is Made of

The Popularity Papers
Donated by Vienna

I chose this book
because the
illustrations are fun, and
the characters deal with
wanting everyone to
like them in a funny way. It is a comic/chapter
book that is fun and interesting to read. I think it
is good for Grades 4 and 5.
Tintin and the Lake of Sharks
Donated by Emma Curry
I chose this book because I
really like the Tintin graphic
novel series. Tintin is a
journalist who goes on
adventures around the world. This book is
especially good because they introduce two new
characters, Niko and Nushka. If you haven’t yet,
I hope you will begin reading Tintin. I
recommend it for Grades 2 and up.
Tintin - The Crab with the
Golden Claws
Donated by Jonah Boeckh
Tintin is a fun graphic
novel series about a young
reporter who goes on all
sorts of adventures. I
chose this book because the story starts out in
Tintin’s home town of Brussels, but ends up in
Morocco. The plot is quite fun: The cover shows
when they are in the Sahara and get ambushed
by Arab raiders. Tintin is a big series and I
suggest that everyone read the whole series. I
recommend it to Grades 2 through 5.
Old Yeller
Donated by Elizabeth
Cunningham
I chose the book Old
Yeller because it is a great
classic book and a good
reading experience for all
children. It is about a boy
who hated a dog but becomes grateful for that
dog when he saves his brother’s life. I
recommend it for students in Grades 4 and 5.
Dragons Love Tacos
Donated by Ava Galloway
I thought that, since so
many Grade 5 students
chose books for Grades 4
and 5, I would choose the
picture book “Dragons
Love Tacos”. It will make
you laugh even when you are in Grade 5. I hope
that you enjoy this book as much as I did. I
recommend this book for Kindergarten to old
age or even until someone has to read it to you!
The Boy on Cinnamon Street
Donated by Cassidy Card
I chose this book because it
has very well developed
characters. The main
character, Louise, is going
into grade 7. She has a few secrets. One is a
secret admirer. The other is a secret that won’t
let her be happy. Read to find out about Louise v
and her secrets. I recommend it for Grade 5 up.
