appreciates her American heritage. Make sure to discuss the items that she asks her mother for
(including the dasher, the butter churn, and the quilts) and show how she values them as
decorations, not understanding their history or use. You may also speak about her name change
in this paragraph. This is where you’ll use the examples, details, and quotes from assignment 2.
The actual number of sentences may vary, but there should be sufficient development with
examples, details, and quotes. Examples should include things like the family heirlooms, Dee’s
name change, her thoughts on her mother, or other things that show that she doesn’t
understand or appreciate her family history and culture.
