Solitary Islands Coastal W alk

Solitary Islands Coastal Walk
Jetty Walks
The Jetty precinct has long been a hub of activity for tourists and locals alike. From
protected beach walks and island whale watching, to a promenade on the historic
timber jetty itself, these walks sample all the delights of The Jetty area.
The Jetty area offers a special natural experience right in the heart of the Coffs Coast. Select one of
these short walks or join them up for a brilliant coastal experience:
Muttonbird Island Walk
2km return with steep sections
Watch the surfers from the northern break wall or imagine yourself on deck of one of the yachts as
you pass the International Marina. Protect precious wedge-tailed shearwater nesting burrows by
following the paved path over Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve to the secluded eastern lookout.
Enjoy views of the Solitary Islands and along the Coffs Coast, or keep an eye out for passing pods
of humpback whales from May to November. Fascinating Gumbaynggirr Dreaming stories are
explained on displays and Aboriginal Rangers share their culture on tours of Giidayn Miirral.
Dolphin Marine Magic and Coffs Creek Walk
2km return from the Yacht Club
Follow the SICW north to Dolphin Marine Magic to see the dolphins and seals perform and learn
about the marine life along the Coffs Coast. The Coffs Creek Walk then continues along a mangrove
boardwalk, meandering along the Coffs Creek all the way into the heart of Coffs Harbour (8km
loop). Make time to stop and enjoy the beautiful Coffs Harbour Botanic Gardens.
Jetty Beach Walk
The kids will love this protected beach walk south from the Yacht Club, returning along the
pathways behind the dunes through the playgrounds and picnic areas.
Coffs Harbour Historic Jetty Walk
Tread the old wooden planks of the jetty and watch swimmers doing their laps, dolphins swimming
underneath or the daring young locals taking their first jump over the side.
