RUMİNAL ACİDOSİS AS A PRINCIPAL REASON FOR METABOLIC

RUMİNAL ACİDOSİS AS A PRINCIPAL REASON FOR METABOLIC
DISORDERS OF DAIRY COWS
B. Fatur*
Ruminants are animals with composed stomachs which is necessary for normal
digestion of cellulose to degestible sugars for energy supply. It great difference between
monogastric and ruminant stomachs and their function. In monogastric animals and
man the principal role for digestion is encimatic and acid influence on stomach contents.
At ruminants micro fauna and micro flora through fermentations can produce useful
energy and other components. Fort hat reason, for stomach micro population most be in
good condition and fermentation is on high level.
If breeding or zootecnical condition are not on minimal level as a consequences
can acidosis or alkalosis can appear. For acidosis can be problematic feding with tolow
fiber contents. This can be very frequent in intersive farm breeding.
Acidosis can lead clinically at dairy cows in: lactation acidosis, anorexia,
depression, dehydration, ulceration of rumen wall, ileus, tympania, and laminitis,
cortical necrosis of brains, displaced abomasus and low milk fat. Author discussed about
etiological and clinical findings and its prevention.
