You try: On the next page of your notes, use the steps above to create double number lines to solve each problem below. 1. Rayelle takes inventory of her closet and discovers that she has 8 shirts for every 5 pair of jeans. If she has 40 shirts, how many pairs of jeans does she have?
Rayelle has 25 pairs of jeans with 40 shirts. 2. A lawyer earns $1500 for every 40 hour work week. How many weeks will it take to earn $4500?
The lawyer would work for 3 weeks. 3. At Vons, apples cost $2.59 for 3 pounds. How many pounds can you get for $9 if you must buy whole pounds? You can buy 9 pounds since you don't have enough for 12. 4. There are 24 students in a classroom and 6 large round tables. How many children should be seated at each table if there must be the same number of children at each table? (This number line setup is different than before!) You put the 24:6 at the 6 location then figure out how much you count by to reach it. There are 4 students at each table.
