Saving big on my transit station parking expenses.

The City and County of San Francisco
Pre-Tax Commuter Benefits Program - Parking Account
Park at BART or Caltrain and, with the City’s parking
benefits program, watch your savings grow.
How parking benefits work.
If you park at a BART or Caltrain station to catch a train to work, you
can open a pre-tax parking account. You must have a pre-tax transit
account to enroll for parking benefits.
Each paycheck, set aside some of your pay, before taxes, to use for your
eligible parking expenses. For 2013, the IRS allows $245 per month for
parking in addition to the $245 maximum for transit expenses.
You save because the money you use to pay for your commute is
deducted from your paycheck before taxes are taken out. Since the
money isn’t taxed, you save between 25% and 40% on every purchase.
For example, if you spend $100 a month on transit parking charges, you
can save at least $25 a month ($300 a year), or more.
Using your parking account is easy.

That’s exac tly what I need .
Eligible parking expenses under this program include parking at or near
a transit station (for example, parking at a BART station).
} Scheduling direct payments to your parking provider (Pay My
Parking Provider option). WageWorks will pay your parking provider
on your behalf, in time for the start of each order month. This works
well if you pay for a monthly parking space at a BART station.
}
Getting reimbursed for eligible parking expenses (Pay Me Back
option). If you don’t pay on a monthly basis, or if you purchase a
monthly parking permit from Caltrain, select this option. You can
request your reimbursement online or download and submit a Pay Me
Back claim form.

Here’s a real life BART rider - “Pay My Provider”
Jane drives to the Bayshore Caltrain station, parks and takes the train to the
office. Since Jane pays for her Caltrain transit pass with pre-tax money, she
would like to do the same with her Caltrain parking expenses.
Joe currently parks at a BART station every work day of the month and
wants to open a parking account for a monthly parking permit. Joe first
must have a BART- issued monthly parking permit before he elects this
option and a pre-tax transit account with scheduled BART pass or e-cash
orders. Conveniently, Joe has both of these and will use his BART parking
permit number to sign in and enroll in a parking account at
www.wageworks4me.com/ccsf/.
To set up a parking account, Jane does the following:
1. Logs in to www.wageworks4me.com/ccsf/.
2. Selects the Commuter Account section on the DASHBOARD page.
3. Selects PLACE COMMUTER ORDER on the PROGRAM DETAILS page.
4. Selects Park and Ride on the PLACE COMMUTER ORDER page.
5. Selects Caltrain on the Select Your Station page.
6. Selects her station or stop then selects NEXT.
7. Selects her parking facility from parking providers listed.
8. Enters her Parking Provider address on the Pay Me Back page then
selects NEXT.
9. Jane enters the amount and selects her order frequency then selects
NEXT on the Account & Frequency page. (Jane’s account will be active
two months after enrollment. For example, if she sets up her account
by April 15th, her May deductions will be applied to her July parking
account to fund her reimbursement requests.)
After Jane has paid for her parking permit and the parking expense
benefit month has started at the Bayshore Caltrain station, Jane can sign
in at www.wageworks4me.com/ccsf and request reimbursement of
her parking expense.
10. Jane then clicks on the SUBMIT A RECEIPT OR CLAIM on the
DASHBOARD page.
11. There Jane selects Commuter Claim Pay Me Back then chooses to
file a paper claim.
NOTE : Jane must have a valid Monthly Transit Pass or 8-ride Ticket loaded
on her Clipper card to purchase a monthly parking permit at Caltrain
station ticket vending machines by entering her 10-digit Clipper card
number.
