5th Tour O Swiss 2016 – Opening in northern Switzerland: Schaffhausen
5th Tour O Swiss 2016 starts in the medieval city of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland, not far from the well known Rhine
Falls, the biggest largest waterfall, where the Rhine falls over a cliff 23 m high. The Rhine is the second longest river in
Central and Western Europe which starts in the Swiss Alps of Graubünden and empties eventually into the North Sea in the
Netherlands.
Schaffhausen is the capital of the canton of the same name. The old portion has many Renaissance era buildings decorated
with frescos and sculpture. The city is dominated by the old fortress Munot, with a beautiful view over the old city and the
Rhine.
Our orienteering program opens with a sprint race over typical sprint distances. The course setter will have interesting choices between narrow streets in the old town, steep staircaises to the Munot and park terrain around the Munot hill.
Discover with us this fantastic part of northern Switzerland. After the competition, a formal welcome and an apero will be held
in the city. Over Night stay in the city of Schaffhausen. Finish your first day in 5th Tour O Swiss 2016 with a walk trough the old
town.

5th Tour O Swiss 2016 – The Jubilee and World Heritage Tour
Online Registration to 5th Tour O Swiss 2016 is open
We have opened our online entry system. Some of our participants from former years have already registered – welcome to
our tour! Within the entry tool, you can easily fill in your personal information, choose your orienteering class (or choose «no
orienteering», if you want to travel with us without participating in the orienteering events), and choose your travel package.
Each participant have to fill out his entry form – there is no «group entry» as in previous years. This is due to data management requirements and security reasons. But, to allow easy handling of information, you can choose to name a «group
leader».
Travel packages
You can choose as in former tours between three travel packages: «Exclusive» allows you to travel in 1st class coaches and
to stay in luxury hotels (****) in single or double rooms. Our «Classic» package includes travel in 2nd class coaches and night
stays in standard hotels (***). «Budget» comes with travel in 2nd class coaches and easy accommodation with multiple beds in
a room, most of the time in hostels. All packages includes 3 Gala diners which will be held together for all participants.
If you choose the option «additional bed in double room» (which can be only be choosen for children, but not in Budget-package), we can’t give you a cost estimate, as we will have to check first availability by our hotel partners.
Orienteering
If you plan to participate in our orienteering events, you will have to choose a competition class. Classes are given based on
the competition Rules of Swiss Orienteering. Classes for children begin with DH10 with short and very easy courses, becoming longer and more difficult up to DH18. Senior categories starts at DH35 and go up to D75 and H80 with difficult courses,
which will become shorter for older participants. The main categories DHAL and DHAK are open for all participants and have
challenging and difficult courses with long or short distances. If you are beginning with orienteering, we suggest to choose
DHB, a beginner’s class for adults with easy courses.
Timekeeping will be done for all courses using the Sportident system. You will have to use an Si-Card. If you have your own
Si-Card, please give us your Si-Cardnumber, otherwise you will have to rent one for all competitions.
