Competencies developed: C2- Reinvest understanding of oral and written texts C3- To write texts Composantes: -usage of visual and linguistic resources Essential Knowledge: learn various adjectives Prior knowledge required: numbers, colours, shapes Material Needed: Didactic: - Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak Worksheet (1 per student) Powerpoint presentation with the images from the story Set of examples Others: - Projector Pencils Coloring crayon or markers Tape or gum Cultural Benchmark: students are able to describe their friends and animals Procedure: Preparing their learning (20 minutes) - Review body parts, colours, numbers. (5 minutes) Read the story using the book (for you) and the projector (for students) (15 mintes) Question students throughout the story o Ex.: Does he look happy? o Ask them to repeat after you o Ask them to make the sounds with you o o Do they have pointy teeth? Are they big? Main Activity (30 minutes) - Show students the adjectives Ask students to pronounce them with you Also use gestures to represent the adjectives Handout the worksheet Show the example Asks students to fill in the blanks Students must draw their monster afterwards Integrating and Reinvesting their learning (10 minutes) *If the students enjoy the activity, finish it next class - Present your monster Ask students to present their monster in front of everyone.
