A Message from the President
Remembering
Our Friends
In Memoriam: Remembering
Carol Borer and Ilene Greenfield
This summer we said goodbye to two women who
we’re hugely influential on this company and me
personally. Carol Borer passed away on June 30th
and Ilene Greenfield passed on July 21. Both ladies
fought long and courageous battles with cancer.
Team,
Those of us who work for G4S know what G4S is all about.
We play an essential role in the safety, security and
protection of the American public and our nation’s
infrastructure.
As you browse this issue, remember who you are! The
actions of the security officers featured in the publication are
exemplary, but not uncommon. The stories you see here are
a small fraction of the challenges security officers like you
overcome on a daily basis. It takes preparation, training and
professionalism to meet these challenges. You are G4S.
This summer a group of G4S employees worked together to
create a video that explains who we are and gives everyone
an opportunity to demonstrate company pride. You’ll learn
more about the “I am G4S” campaign on page 1.
Also in this issue, on page 3, you’ll read about “Shout Outs”
our new weekly email and video that recognizes G4S
employees and teams across the United States who
exemplify hard work, serving our business and our clients.
Never miss a “Shout Out” by ensuring that your human
resources team have your current email address on file.
It is with great pleasure and excitement that we present
2015’s Gold Club awardees in this issue. It’s truly remarkable
what we have accomplished and it is with great respect and
admiration that we can recognize so many of our General
Managers and Managers of Business Development. This
year’s lineup featured on page 4 was exceptional and we
want to congratulate all for their effort, commitment to
excellence and performance.
Carol was my executive assistant and was a valued
member of our team for more than 16 years and was
recognized as Employee of the Year in 2008. She
was my best friend at work and a great assistant and Carol Borer
served as my voice and the voice of the organization on countless occasions in
support of our mission. Filled with style, grace and a terrific sense of humor, all
you needed was 10 minutes with Carol to know how special she was.
Ilene joined our organization in 1985. With her
meticulous planning for the annual ASIS show, a
conference or Gold Club, we never worried or even
looked back. It was Ilene; She had it covered. Ilene
was promoted to Manager of Operations and
Administration in January of 2000 and again to
Director in 2002 and finally to Sr. Director in 2003.
Ilene Greenfield
In her last role with the company she looked after all
Administration for Secure Solutions reporting into Danny Grizzard.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Carol and Ilene. There are those
who love and those who are loved and then there are these ladies, who excelled
at both. They will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Pittsburgh Office Kicks Off
“Why I Work Safely” Campaign
And finally, please know that we are always working to
increase our communication with ALL of our employees. This
newsletter and our weekly Shout Outs are our way of
recognizing you -- the men and woman of G4S -- who are
dedicated to protecting our country’s assets, people and
infrastructure, whether it is at a courthouse, museum, transit
system, campus, office building or shopping mall. Your
impact on public safety is immeasurable.
Regional Training Director Michael Zagger
Thank you for your continued commitment to our company,
our clients and each other.

Lt. Steve Hoover showing how
he works safely
The Pittsburgh office kicked off the “Why I Work
Safely” campaign with an exciting photo contest.
The idea came from Regional Training Director,
Michael Zagger, in an attempt to get the officers
more involved. Zagger challenged officers for all
sites out of Pittsburgh to take pictures of how
they practice safety in their own locations. The
winner was Lt. Steve Hoover out of Grove City,
Pennsylvania. Lt. Hoover demonstrated the
proper wearing of PPE when checking incoming
vehicles into the Grove plant.

CATS Team Apprehends a Shooter
A Hero Among Us
WWP Jarus Perez

before joining the G4S team. Following catastrophic injuries, he
received care, pursued an education and now trains all new
hires in our Sacramento office.
L-R: SPO Michael Shanahan, SPO Mario Zepeda, Captain Bryan Kale, Deputy Chief
Richard Goff, Sergeant Carmelita Jimenez, SPO Zoe Young
It was a typical day at the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) until an

At a site in Omaha, project manager
Melissa Schneider saw something
out of sorts in a transportation
protocol. She stopped the process
and likely prevented a $250,000
lawsuit for the customer.

Alert CPO Prevents Fire
’
While on patrol at a motel in Austin, Texas,
CPO Chris Taylor observed a large
dumpster fire developing adjacent to the
building. He was able to contact the Austin
Fire Department and then started to put the
fire out before it could spread to the low tree
branches and possibly the main building.
Officer Taylor’s quick actions prevented
further damage and potential loss of life.

Regulated Security Solutions
A Message from the RSS President
I want to take the opportunity to introduce myself to those I haven’t
met and to personally thank each of you for your service. Also, please
join me in congratulating those officers who are recognized in this
publication on a job well done.
This is my sixth year at G4S Regulated Security Solutions (RSS).
Before that I was an FBI Agent. While in the FBI, I performed several
duties, but the one that stands out is the seven years I was a SWAT
Operator on the FBI’s enhanced SWAT Team in Miami. It was the
training and execution of the mission that have given me a unique
appreciation for what our security officers at RSS are tasked with doing
daily at nuclear power plants throughout the United States. You are
highly trained and work in an environment that demands exceptional
performance. Lives depend on it and that’s an enormous responsibility!
Since being appointed President in January, I have been traveling
extensively, meeting with leaders in the industry. Nuclear plants are
VIDEO: As Seen On G4S Shout Outs
“Shout Outs” is a weekly platform that recognizes G4S employees
and teams across the United States who exemplify hard work serving
our business and our clients. In a recent RSS edition of Shout Outs,

highlights the importance of safety in the
workplace and he sends a Shout Out to
the teams at Maine Yankee, South

under tremendous financial pressure and
need to reduce costs to continue to
operate. The term the industry uses is
“Delivering the Nuclear Promise.” The
challenges for some utilities are
monumental and several plants have
announced
their
intention
to
decommission in the near future. Our
company and our security professionals
at RSS are uniquely positioned to aid the
industry in delivering that promise. Our
operations model is cost effective and we
have proven ourselves to be an organization that delivers outstanding
performance with safety driving our daily activities.
As we move forward, I’m challenging each of you to embrace the
current challenges in the industry and rededicate yourself to doing
everything in your power to add value to our team. This starts with a
professional appearance and positive attitude no matter what your
position is within RSS. Most of you are wearing a military-style uniform
and carrying high-powered weapons as you go about your daily work
activities. You are constantly being observed by those at your site. Take
pride in that and use it as an opportunity to illustrate our company is a
world-class security organization. Again, thank you for your efforts. I’m
proud of you and I am committed to RSS’s continuous improvement.

Potential Theft
First Millstone Officer
Accepted to NEI
Composite
Adversary Team
L-R: Sergeant Matt Hessemer, Officer Mike Ross,
Officer Nathan Luebke
While roving patrol officer Mike Ross was on duty,
he observed an individual carrying items toward a
vehicle. The individual confronted Officer Ross,
and through his training and experience, Ross was
able to observe and report the potential theft of
company equipment to the Central Alarm Station.
Back-up officers, Officer Nathan Luebke and Sgt.
Matt Hassemer responded to help control the
situation until local law enforcement arrived on the
scene. Due to the quick actions of Officer Ross,
and the additional response of Officers Luebke and
Hassemer, the situation was resolved without
incident or threat to the facility.
Security Officer Samuel Turker
For 11 days, Samuel Turker and 15 other
hand-selected Nuclear Security Officers from
around the country were put through a Special
Forces-type boot camp, where those who
successfully completed the course were
offered positions on the NEI Composite
Adversary Team. Not only did Turker complete
the course successfully, he also received the
“Top Dog” award, given to the top overall
performer of the participants. Congratulations,
and we wish Samuel the best of luck in his
time away from the station.

I would like to speak on behalf of myself and Al and other staff…
regarding the abilities of Daniel Monger. Our response from
Operation and the riding public in general has been very positive
when Mr. Monger is on duty.

I just wanted to let you know that an employee just came up to
me to let me know how much they appreciate the security staff.
She’s really impressed with how warm and inviting they make her
feel, which is so different from other places she’s worked.
From: Assistant Vice President, Union Bank
To: G4S Regional Manager Rod Natale
Location: San Diego
We recently had a security officer named Jenkins work at our branch temporarily for a few days.
While he was here, we had a customer come in to do a transaction. She left and shortly later she
came back in a panic. She couldn’t find her cell phone. Jenkins walked around the entire lobby
and searched high and low for her phone as well as asking every employee if it had been returned.
We didn’t have it. Our customer walked out of the branch bawling. Jenkins could have very easily
left it at that but instead, he walked out with her to her car to help her search. It turns out, the phone
had fallen in a crack between the seats. The customer was beyond relieved as she didn’t have
the means to replace the phone. Jenkins definitely showed what it means to live Union Bank’s
purpose. He was a tremendous asset to have while he was here and a couple of customers have
asked about him since he left. Wonderful job Jenkins!
