Show/Write the fact e.g. 4 + 2 = 6 Model the making the sum using objects or fingers Read the fact together, read it in a squeaky voice, giants voice, whisper etc. Ask the question and your child says the answer in a funny voice, loud, whisper etc. ‘Beat the Parent’ – take it in turns to ask the number fact e.g the child asks “what is 4 + 2 = 6and the parent answers “10” then the parent asks “what is 4 + 2 = 6and the child answers 10. Who is the quickest? Quick Shout Leaving the entire fact for the child to see as they shout out the Out answer e.g. parent “4 + 2” = Child “6” Beat the Parent 8 Wipe and Repeat Without the fact written for the child to see, repeat steps 5, 6 and 7 above. 9 Switcher 10 Children Write Write a new fact using the same numbers but in a new place e.g 2 + 4 = and repeat steps 3 - 8 Child write the sum and reads it in a posh voice, squeaky voice, giants voice, whisper – check operation vocabulary. 11 Fast and Furious 12 Fact Family Point to your child, you say the sum they say the answer. Show/Write the fact family for the fact e.g 4 + 2 = 6, 2 + 4 = 6, 6 – 4 = 2, 6 – 2 = 4 13 14 Quick Family Quick Write Use fingers or counters to show the calculation. Ask fact family facts and children recall answer. Ask the question and chn just write the answer, very fast; include all facts from the family.
