Dear Ted,
On September 6,2002, you and a PBS film crew visited me in my home in Sierra Vista. You were
there to talk about a number of things, including American Border Patrol – the non-profit group I
had just started up.
A lot has happened since that visit. If you are interested in learning what ABP has been doing,
you can take a look at this video – Ten Years of Progress by American Border Patrol.

American Border Patrol now operates from a ranch on the U.S.- Mexico border south of Sierra
Vista. We continue to test new ideas for border solutions, including something we call the Sonic
Barrier.
The Sonic Barrier is a system designed to monitoring the entire border. It is an adaptation of a
type of technology employed by oil companies called seismic exploration. We believe it offers a
solution to the perplexing problem of knowing when the border is secure.
In line with this, I was quite interested in your December 20 article - Is The Border Secure
Enough To Tackle The Immigration System?
I was particularly interested in your closing sentence:
“The political reality is that more border security — or at least more accountability — is still likely
to be part of any legislation.”
The Sonic Barrier grew out of a four-year search by ABP to find a way to achieve accountability
on the border. It has been undergoing testing and development for more than two years, and we
believe it will do the job.
We would welcome a visit by NPR and/or PBS to our ranch to experience a live demonstration of
the Sonic Barrier and to learn how it can be used to solve the accountability problem on the
border.
Yours truly,
Glenn Spencer
