Title: End of Sale for Avaya™ Communication Manager Release 3.x Notification Date: September 4, 2007 Avaya is discontinuing sales of Avaya Communication Manager release 3.x. The last date for new quotations of Communication Manager release 3.x licenses will be December 31, 2007. This end­of­sale date provides an overlap period of 9 months for selling a new major release of Communication Manager and the last major release (CM 4.0 was released in March 2007). This supports customers who need the older release for various reasons such as internal certification or consistency with other servers in their enterprise. This will affect the following design types:
· Any new Communication Manager 3.x design
· Any upgrade from Communication Manager 2.x, 1.x, DEFINITY R10, or any prior release, with a target of Communication Manager 3.x There two exceptions to this policy:
· Customers already on Communication Manager 3.0 and 3.1 will still be able to obtain an upgrade of their software to 3.1.4 through June 30, 2008. No additional licensing codes need be ordered in this case.
· Customers can also continue to add capacity and features to existing Communication Manager 3.x switches. This can be done using the ASD additions configurator. Beginning October 8, 2007, a password will be required to use ASD to configure new or upgraded CM 3.x systems. Please follow the ASD instructions on how to request this password. Existing SAP quotes can be converted into orders for a period of 60 days after end of sale (until March 3, 2008). For the US Indirect sales channel, additional conditions apply as follows:
· SAP Quotes must be on the Distributor’s sold­to in order to be valid for 60 days after the EOS date
· Check with your Distributor for the exact cut off date for configurations to be converted to quotes
· After the EOS date, SAP quotes cannot be modified and the complete quote must be ordered from Avaya by the Distributor (made to order) IA770 Messaging Codes Beginning with Communication Manager 4.0, there are no separate IA770 Messaging application material codes as with previous releases. The new Communication Manager 4.0 codes entitle the customer to the IA770 Messaging application without the need to separately order it.
