• Provided individual, couple, family, group counselling, and mental

Maintained a support group for children with intellectual
disabilities
Provide milk and nutritional supplements for 10 young pregnant
families
Gave away 94 bikes & helmets so a child could enjoy their summer
Increased an afterschool program capacity by over 50%
Built an accessible washroom at the New Caledonia Curling Club
Teaching low income clients all aspects of buying, preparing and
delivering nutritious meals
Provide a listening ear 365 days a year for those who need
someone to talk to confidentially and anonymously
Trained 119 tutors to teach 163 adults how to read and write

Convergys, Anne and Dr. Jack MacLeod, Optometrist, Drs. MacLeod, Wagg, &
Potter, and Rick Feehan, Chief Financial Officer, Wear Well Garments, when they
decided to become Leaders of the Way to support United Way of Pictou County.

In 2010, 125 Leaders and Young Leaders contributed over $113,000 to our campaign.
This represents approximately 40% of total funds raised! Thank you!
United Way and its funded agencies have benefitted from the generous support of those that live
and work in Pictou County. Their support at the leadership level inspire others to join and
together lead the way to a better community. The Leaders of the Way Campaign is an integral
part of the overall campaign, raising 30-40% of the total funds raised each year in Pictou County.

building a stronger community.

As young leaders of Pictou County, we all have the opportunity to make a difference in the
community we live in and where we raise our children. Through the various agencies funded by
United Way of Pictou County , we are able to touch the lives of many people in need. I hope

are one of the largest non-government funder of social services in Pictou County. In fact, 100% of all funds raised
stay in Pictou County. A gift to United Way changes lives and builds a strong, healthy and safe community.
