Cyber Summit Overview Generation D: Data Scientists of Tomorrow Data is being drawn from every aspect of our lives, and will be used to shape the operations of future societies. How will our world of data be analyzed and used? And who will be doing the analysis? The 2015 Cyber Summit will focus on the evolving discipline of data science and how it affects all citizens, from children to professionals. The digital citizens of tomorrow will have the option to base their actions and words on rich data and analysis — this cross-­‐Prairies conference is an opportunity to find out why this is important, and how to get started. Organizers The event is being organized by the not-­‐for-­‐profit organizations that run the Research and Education Networks in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba: Cybera, SRNet and MRNet. It is geared towards each group’s stakeholder community – including startups, K-­‐12 and post-­‐secondary educators, as well as municipal and provincial governments – who look to these agencies for unbiased technical support and advice. Program The Cyber Summit will take place September 29-­‐30, 2015 in Banff, Alberta. Parallel session tracks will focus on the available technologies and tools that can help organizations engage staff and students with data. Expert speakers will also advise on the policies needed to securely move institutions into the next generation of digital innovation. The Summit will be preceded by a full day of hands-­‐on workshops. These will dive into new technology development, and how to manage these tools within educational and public institutions, as well as small to medium-­‐sized companies.
