architecture, this National Historic Landmark is the oldest standing state

A message from Gail Hooker - Grand Club Director
I cannot believe this is our July issue of the Grand Club newsletter. We
have had some wonderful trips this spring; Arkansas Flower and Garden
Show, Oaklawn Races, Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, and Branson. The
trip to Branson was unbelievable, I am still in awe over the Moses production at the Sight and Sound Theater. We have some great events
planned for this summer, so mark your calendars. We invite all of you to
come join the fun and be part of the Grand Club.

IS IT TIME TO REVIEW YOUR ESTATE PLAN?
Regardless of the type of estate plan you have in place (simple or complex), it is important that it remain current and
that it continues to reflect your wishes. Here are some guidelines about appropriate times to review your existing estate plan:
Change in your marital status. Marriage or divorce are two events that dramatically alter an estate plan. The most
significant is the availability or loss of the unlimited marital deduction.
Birth or adoption of children. New children may require adding a guardian or altering whom you wish to name as
guardian.
Significant change in your net worth. If your estate planner has not seen an updated list of your assets, your estate
plan may not be accomplishing all your goals.
Substantial increase in your insurance coverage. An individual who increases his or her life insurance may be
creating potential estate taxes that may be avoided with proper planning.
Death of a beneficiary. If the death of a named beneficiary in your will is not specifically addressed, your alternate
wishes for that beneficiary’s share may not be fulfilled.
Change in the tax law. Several changes have been made in the estate and gift tax laws in the last few years and the
potential for changes in the next few years exists. You should be aware of how these changes may impact your
current estate plan.
You change your mind. As your children age, a different guardian may become more appropriate. Age, impairment
or geographic distances may affect a named trustee or executor’s ability to serve.
Five years pass. As a general rule, if none of the above conditions require an earlier change, look at your estate plan
at least every five years.
