Public Librarian or Teacher
• Other Books by the Same Author if the Title Listed Is Not Available

Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to our Elementary Summer Reading Program! Reading is the most important lifelong skill that
we can help our children to learn and to practice.
Goal: To encourage our students to read for pleasure every day as they continue to refine their reading and
comprehension skills over the summer months.
Requirements:
• Read and/or listen to THREE books
• Complete a reading log entry for EACH book
• Complete a graphic organizer for ONE of the three books read. Choose the graphic organizer that
best fits the book’s genre (either fiction or nonfiction)
• Parents are encouraged to read aloud to and with their children
Expectations:
• Summer reading log and picture are due by Thursday, September 1
Booklists Available At:
• Cuyahoga County Public Libraries (Brook Park, Berea, Middleburg Heights)
• Each elementary school’s websites
• Your school office in June and August (starting Aug. 10)
Suggestions:
• Please understand that the titles listed are just suggested readings.
Reading Log and Graphic Organizers Found:
