You see them everywhere in Ewenny and
in the oldest family pottery in Wales. The
Corntown, cats perched on gateposts or
walls, with a stony supercilious stare; some
old, some new, some black, some
terracotta, some shiny, some weather-
pottery has been in existence since the
18th century, for at least 8 generations,
and produces distinctively glazed handthrown earthenware including beautiful
beaten.

been a pottery on the site since 1427!
Each piece of pottery is unique, with every
one thrown and decorated by hand. You
can usually see Alun or his daughter Caitlin
working in the pottery which is adjacent to
their shop on Pottery Hill, Ewenny. Caitlin
has recently exhibited her pots in Wales,
England and the US.
The Ewenny Pottery cat is instantly
recognisable. He (or she) began life in the
