Welcome & Announcements
Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and
the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Opening Prayer
Loving God of Christmas, and all our days, we gather as Your people
to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We thank You for His birth and for His
life as one of us. May this worship fill us with joy and wonder, and
may Christ be born again in our hearts. Amen.
Call to Worship
One: In the beginning…
All: In the beginning was the Word.
One: God’s Word.
All: The word was with God…
One: And the word was God.
All: Everything came into being through the Word
One: and without the Word nothing came into being.
All: We are created by God’s Word.
One: The Word became flesh, and made its home among us
All: Here, in our very midst,
One: Emmanuel: Our Lord Jesus Christ!!! Hallelujah.
Scripture:
Luke 2:8-20
Christmas is about more than just hearing a story – it is about
responding to the amazing news that God loved us so much,
God sent Jesus into our world to be our friend and Savior.
Everyone who seeks to love and follow Jesus can know God’s
amazing, unconditional love, that is offered to all. So let us hear
the story of how some of the first people to encounter the news of
the birth of Jesus responded, and how it changed the world.

*Prayer of Dedication
Loving God, we are in awe of the great gift You gave us – Your very
Self, in the form of a tiny baby born long ago and far away, who
came to bring You ever more presence in our world and in our lives.
Help us to respond, not just this day but every day, by giving of our
time, treasures and talents, that together we might help make the
world a better place for all. Amen.
*Hymn
Go, Tell It on the Mountain
No. 138
*Benediction
As the shepherds returned home – “glorifying and praising God
for all they had heard and seen” – so we go out now, to tell the
world the simple and transforming news: The Word of God, that
created the world and declared it good, has come to live among us.
Wherever you go, may you know that God is always with you, and
loves you without reserve. Thanks be to God! Amen.
*Postlude
Somehow, not only for Christmas, but all the long year through, the joy that
you give to others, is the joy that comes back to you.
~John Greenleaf Whittier

The Lord has made his salvation widely known;
he has revealed his righteousness
in the eyes of all the nations.
God has remembered his loyal love

every corner of the earth has seen our God’s salvation.

Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth!
Be happy!
Rejoice out loud!
Sing your praises!
Sing your praises to the Lord with the lyre –
with the lyre and the sound of music.
With trumpets and a horn blast,
shout triumphantly before the Lord, the king!
Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth!
Be happy!
Rejoice out loud!
Sing your praises!

(Sing) Joy to the world ~ Verse 3
Let the sea and everything in it roar;
the world and all its inhabitants too.
Let all the rivers clap their hands;
let the mountains rejoice out loud altogether before the Lord
because he is coming to establish justice on the earth!
He will establish justice in the world rightly;
he will establish justice among all people fairly.
Let the sea and everything in it roar;
the world and all its inhabitants too.
Let all the rivers clap their hands;
let the mountains rejoice out loud altogether before the Lord
because he is coming to establish justice on the earth!
He will establish justice in the world rightly;
he will establish justice among all people fairly.
