Reading Goals
Basis for Reading Goals
- The realization that reading is not in isolation but in fact connected to all the
content areas.
- The truth that distinguished reading goes beyond being able to read fluently
and comprehend a text on the “surface level.”

Words Their Way
“I see and I forget. I hear and I remember. I do and I understand.”
-  Through word study students examine, manipulate, and categorize words
-  The program creates tasks that focus students’ attention on critical features of word
sound, pattern, and meaning.
- The purpose of Word Study is Two-Fold
- 1st Develop a general knowledge of English spelling. The general nature of of our
spelling system.
-  2nd Word Study increases specific knowledge of words- the spelling and meaning of
individual words.
