These are some options for HELP in typing Spanish characters using GOOGLE Docs, Chromebooks, your home computer, Word and/or Powerpoint: Option #1) Change/modify your settings in Google Docs for the language used to help you along the way. First, go to File then Language and select Español. This will edit your paper using proper Spanish marks including accents and punctuation. It is not perfect though, so continue to use your own brain. :) Option #2) Copy and paste from here **Another option is to simply copy and paste whatever letters/characters you need from here: á é í ó ú ¿ ¡ ñ Option #3) Change/modify your settings on your Chromebook First, go and click the three lines in the top corner of your window and choose Settings, Then go to Device and click Keyboard Settings, and then click ‘Change Language and Input Settings’ and check ‘US International keyboard’ in Input Method on the right. And click Done. Finally, in your document, click Alt and shift to change it to INTL. ★ The ‘ key (left of the enter key) OR the alt key plus the letter for á, é, í, ó, ú ★ press alt and n (on the right side of the space bar) for ñ ★ press shift ~n for Ñ ★ press alt (on the right side of the space bar) and ? for ¿ ★ press alt (on the right side of the space bar) and ! for ¡ The ‘ key (left of the enter key) plus the letter also works for accents like á, é, ó, ú Option #4) In Google Docs, you can add the ‘App’ for Spanish accents and use those to copy and paste. Option #5) See all the keyboard shortcuts below. These might be best for at home on your personal computer, working in a Word document, and/or creating a PowerPoint. They also work in GOOGLE Docs. Press CTRL+' (APOSTROPHE), the letter for á, é, í, ó, ú, ý Á, É, Í, Ó, Ú, Ý CTRL+SHIFT+~ (TILDE), the letter for ñ Ñ CTRL+SHIFT+: (COLON), the letter for ü Ü ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+? for ¿ ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+! for ¡ OR Finally if you have a number pad you can use Alt codes Alt codes for international characters Hold down exact order Alt 130 = é Alt 161 = í Alt 164 = ñ Alt 0233 = é Alt 160 = á the ‘Alt’ key while you type in the numbers in their Alt 162 = ó Alt 163 = ú Alt 0161 = ¡ (upside down exclamation) Alt 168 = ¿
