within Penticton, the main
stage and vendors are located
in Okanagan Lake Park.
Why: The 2016 Penticton
Peach Festival is a fantastic event which features a whirlwind 5
days of free family entertainment. Join us for all the activities:
a pancake breakfast, sandcastle competitions, chef's cook-off
competitions, Ogopogo War Canoe Races, PenTown Throwdown (skateboard/BMX event), Peter Bros. Grand Parade, Reel Peach Film Festival, Sheila Bishop Slo-Pitch
Tournment, Square Dance Festival and an amusement park.
Plus, food vendors, crafts, entertainment and much more.
Fun for the entire family!

THE PENTICTON FARMERS MARKET
When: 8:30AM - 1:00PM
Where: 100 block of Main Street
Why: At our market you can expect to find farm fresh veggies & fruits, eggs, honey, baking, preserves and handmade
crafts – all grown or produced in the South Okanagan. Our
vendors proudly make, bake or grow everything they bring
to the market. We also host a selection of local liquor vendors each week.

PENTICTON SQUARE DANCE FESTIVAL
When: August 3-6
Where: Senior Drop-In Centre, 2905 South Main Street
Why: The festival offers a unique and fantastic line up of callers
and cuers to entertain dancers from Alberta, BC and several of
the Pacific Northwest states. The festival offers an opportunity
for dancers to enjoy various levels of square and round dancing, and even an opportunity to dance in the lake.

THE REEL PEACH FESTIVAL
When: August 3-7
Where: Okanagan Lake Park
Why: Each night at the Penticton Peach Festival before the
main act, the Reel Peach Festival will air 5-7 film submissions
featuring liquid libations or Okanagan experiences. Viewers can
vote online for their favourite video and enter to win a $250
prize package from Tourism Penticton.

DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY MARKET
When: 8:30AM - 2:00PM
Where: 200-400 block of Main Street and Front Street
Why: The market is the biggest of its kind in the Okanagan
with hundreds of vendors featuring handmade goods
including: clothing, food, jewellery, collectables, antiques
and furniture, as well as live music and entertainment. Farmfresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, honey, eggs, homemade
baking, preserves, crafts and wines!

Why: Having toured worldwide side by side over the past 4

that draws on their many influences and favourite songs
over the ages. Together, they breath new life and soul into
tunes – some forgotten, some favourites.

Floyd fans – the

of Pink Floyd’s legendary repertoire
from 1967 to 2014,

OGOPOGO REGATTA

Where: Okanagan Lake Park
Why: Third annual Ogopogo War Canoe Races
This year the Penticton Museum & Archives will hold War
Canoe races on the beach every hour on the hour. Anyone can
join up to race and paddle a war canoe, which carry between
six and eight paddlers. Life jackets will be provided and a
course will be laid out. Paddle boards and kayaks will be
available as well.

Why: Darlene started singing solos in church at the age of 3,
and found her musical passion a few years later in the soul,
gospel, funk, and jazz music of the 1970’s. The vocal freedom

MARIONETTE MAGIC: ROBIN AND THE TIMLESS FOREST

Why: This summer, Runaway Moon is bringing another familyfriendly marionette show to the Okanagan-Shuswap.
They are beginning production of a youth-created and youthperformed marionette play, thanks to the BC Arts Council's
Youth Engagement Program, called Robin and the Timeless
Forest, which will tour around the Okanagan. Young artists
Forrest Elliot, Hana Friedman, Leif Saba, and Aidan Sparks, with
the participation of Rosa Saba, are writing, creating, and performing the play.
