SHORT SECTION NORTHBOUND SH 286 (CROSSTOWN) TO BE CLOSED AT NIGHT
Additional daytime closures set for SH 286, PR 22, SH 361 through Friday
CORPUS CHRISTI – A short section of SH 286 (Crosstown) on the south side of the city will be
closed tonight and Tuesday night (June 9, 10) to allow crews to remove columns that previously
supported an overhead sign structure.
From 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. each day, the northbound main lanes of SH 286 will be closed at the Business
286 (Ayers Street) exit ramp.
All northbound traffic on SH 286 will exit onto Ayers and use SH 357 (Saratoga Boulevard) to return
to the northbound SH 286 main lanes. All westbound traffic on the J.C. Elliot Transfer Station
crossover will be unable to use the SH 286 northbound main lanes.
An attached map illustrates the temporary traffic pattern.
Single lane closures during the day are also scheduled for the same area through Friday.
From 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., the left main lane only of southbound SH 286 will be closed between SH 357
and the transfer station. From 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., the left main lane only of northbound SH 286 will
be closed between the transfer station and SH 357.
Final striping on the Park Road 22/SH 361 project on North Padre Island will require single lane
closures on PR 22 from Waldron Road to SH 361 through Friday. Single lane closure eastbound will
be from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. and single lane closure westbound will be from 8:30 a.m. to about 7:30 p.m.
Crews also will be replacing damaged grates on westbound PR 22 at the Waldron Road bridge
approach.
Motorists are urged to slow down, to watch for work crews and to follow all traffic control devices.
