Dear Valued Member,
We are excited to announce that the New Castle Community YMCA Board of Directors met on May 29 and
unanimously approved the renovation concept design as it was presented (see sidebar). We cannot wait
for you to experience our new modern and convenient spaces where you can continue to play and grow
with your friends and families for many years to come!
Renovations are scheduled to begin the week of June 29. Throughout the renovations, we will be
sharing updates with you in the lobby, at ncymca.org/Strengthening the Heart Project Updates, through
text alerts and emails. To ensure you are current about the status of the renovation project, please
update your email address or sign up for text alerts with our Member Service staff in person or by
calling them at 724.658.4766.
We expect to close for approximately one week at the beginning of the construction period,
tentatively June 29-July 5, for safety reasons while we begin demolition and secure the spaces we are
renovating. The Y-Zone will be open 5:30 a.m.-8 p.m., Mon-Fri, and 1-5 p.m., Sun for your use. A variety
of group fitness classes and Child Watch will move to the Zone while the downtown facility is closed and
a modified class schedule will be posted online. The Y-Zone is available all summer for those of you who
wish to avoid the construction zone altogether. If you are in doubt as to whether the downtown Y is open,
just call us.
In preparation for renovations, please remove any personal belongings from the locker rooms by June 26.
Anything left behind will be donated or discarded. If you need assistance removing your items by this date,
please call Cece McCartt or email us at [email protected].
Throughout this summer, there may be times when the building or parts of the building may need to be
closed. We will give you as much notice as possible when this occurs. Please be aware that the pool will
close for annual maintenance from June 22-July 5. You may swim at either the Butler County Family
YMCA, www.bcfymca.org, or Grove City YMCA, www.grovecityymca.org, with your membership ID card
during this time.
Be ensured we will do everything we can to make you comfortable as we revitalize your YMCA. A trailer
along Beaver Street will provide temporary showers, space for changing, and securing your belongings for
day use only. We look forward to serving you and your family this summer.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during the renovation process. We welcome you to visit
our website, Facebook and Instagram frequently for construction updates and progress.
THE PROJECT
To enhance the YMCA’s ability to serve our community,
we will:
• Improve accessibility
for all.
• Construct three new
locker rooms on the first
floor: male, female and
family.
• Construct new drop-in
child watch center.
• Relocate youth center
as an intergenerational
space.
• Include an open concept
lobby featuring a fireplace.
• Add a chapel/community
room on the first floor.
• Install new interior doors
to Child Care Center.
• Relocate administrative
offices.
