The Coach House sits in its own private garden within the historic
setting of Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum in rural North Essex.
Built in the 18th century, the Coach House was once used to
house horse-drawn carriages for Marks Hall mansion house.
With its traditional oak beams, mellow brickwork and
beautifully tended gardens, filled with romantic blooms,
the Coach House is steeped in history and offers an unforgettable
setting for your special day. With access to the picture-perfect
backdrop of the arboretum just beyond the Coach House, this really
is a unique and beautiful place to celebrate your wedding.

Marks Hall Estate was first mentioned in the Domesday Book and
has developed over hundreds of years into a unique place filled
with history, nature and beauty.
The gardens and arboretum are meticulously cared for and filled
with colour all year round, making Marks Hall a beautiful venue
throughout the seasons.

The Coach House flower garden provides the most romantic setting
for you to begin your married life together. Jostling with beautiful,
scented blooms, the garden provides a peaceful and tranquil oasis
while the attractive gazebo at the bottom of the garden is the
perfect place to make your vows to one another.
The garden flowers from April to October and the ever-changing
colours make it an exquisite venue to hold your ceremony
throughout the spring and summer months. If the weather proves
inclement, or should you prefer it, the Coach House is also
licensed for your ceremony. With it decorated as you wish, it can
be transformed into the venue of your dreams and form the perfect
backdrop to the happiest day of your lives.

flower garden, the perfect socialising space. Once you have had
your photographs taken in the garden and on the terrace, make
your way inside this beautiful old building to enjoy your first
meal as a married couple.

or informal as you desire. Our fully stocked and staffed bar
is available to ensure that you and your guests’ needs are
attended to. Whether you choose to dance the night away to
a DJ or live music, the choice is yours. With its richly-beamed

How to find us
We are easily accessible from Colchester,
Braintree and Chelmsford. From Colchester
please take the exit off the A12 at Marks Tey
and follow the signs to Coggeshall. We are
just off the A120 at Coggeshall, please follow
the brown tourist signs. From Braintree and
Chelmsford please follow the signs to the
A120 Marks Tey/Colchester.
Our nearest train station is Marks Tey which
is a 10 minute taxi journey from the Coach
House. London Stansted is a 40 minute
drive from Marks Hall.
There are a number of hotels and B&Bs in
the local vicinity, so that you and your guests
can stay in the area and are able to fully
enjoy your wedding day celebrations.
