The Paper Wad That Won't Go Into the Bottle No great effort is required to put a small wad of paper into a bottle. So why won't this paper wad do what you ask it to do? What to do: Place the bottle on its side on a table. Wad a small piece of paper into a ball about the size of a green pea. Then place the paper wad bottle's mouth as seen here. Blow hard and fast as shown by the arrow in the drawing. What happens: Instead of flying into the bottle, the paper wad is more likely to fly out of the bottle's mouth and come back toward you. Why: The fast-moving air goes past the paper wad and strikes the bottom of the bottle. This increases the air pressure inside the bottle. As that compressed air rushes out, it carries the paper wad out with it. YOU NEED •small mouth bottle •piece of scrap paper
