Registry Services’
ACCREDITATION/CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION PROCESS
All exams for Alberta Personal Property Registration Electronic System (APPRES), Corporate
Registry (CORES), and Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) Registration Services are
delivered online through a Service Alberta approved network of exam centers located
throughout the province.
NOTE: Successful completion of an accreditation exam does not guarantee access to
Government of Alberta Registry Services systems. Your place of business must have an
agreement with Service Alberta for access to the Corporate Registry or Personal Property
Information systems.
Click here http://servicealberta.ca/1005.cfm to view additional information regarding eligibility
to Corporate Registry or Personal Property Information systems.
Candidates register for an accreditation or certification exam online, choosing the date,
location and time that best suits their needs (business hours only). There is no Government of
Alberta cost for taking an exam, but proctor fee and GST apply. The proctoring fees for the
exams are payable with a credit card at the time of registration and vary based on the exam
selected.
Exam Details
All exams are open book and consist of 50 multiple choice questions. Candidates are allowed
to take printed notes and manuals into the exam. All other belongings are not allowed in the
exam room and must be left with the proctor or in the exam center’s designated location.
All candidates must provide valid government issued picture identification (e.g. driver’s licence,
passport, identification card) to the proctor before the exam. If valid identification is not
provided, the candidate will not be allowed to write the exam.
The pass mark for all exams is 80 per cent. Please refer to the Exam Failure Policy for details
on next steps if an exam is failed.

Once submitted, all online exams are marked electronically and an exam review screen
appears. The review screen indicates the candidate’s pass/fail status, mark achieved, and a
summary of exam questions.
A feedback report also appears to help candidates evaluate their individual performance. The
report has two elements: feedback categories and points.
Feedback categories are based on topics contained in the policy manual, accreditation
manual, or user guide, as appropriate.
The points breakdown indicates the number of correctly answered questions based on the
total number of questions in that category. For example, if the points column displays ¾, the
candidate achieved three correct answers out of four questions.
The exam review screen cannot be saved or printed. However, the information is automatically
sent to the candidate’s email address provided upon registration. Neither Service Alberta, nor
Yardstick Testing and Training Experts (Yardstick), retain a copy of the report. It is each
candidate’s responsibility to save the email.
