President’s Message
I wanted to first thank all the families that came out to our Family Fun Night
Math and Movement! We had a packed house and were able to donate many food
items to the school collection for Thanksgiving Dinners. Thank you to all of the
volunteers and teachers that made it a special night! We really are an amazing
Elden community!
Do you sometimes feel like every time you turn around the PTA is collecting
money for something? Did you ever wonder where all that money goes? Right back
to your kids! The goal of the PTA is to give back in at least three ways for every
fundraiser that we do. Thanks to all who have become PTA members and
participate for the fundraisers – with your support, we are able to do so much for
Elden! While we did amazing at the Walk-A-Thon, in order to maintain our current
level of programs and services, we are still working toward our fundraising goal for
the year. Be on the lookout for information regarding what hopes to be our final
fundraiser in early January.
In addition to our operating fund, we as the PTA have taken on the project
to expand the 3rd through 5th grade playground area. The estimate for small
playground equipment is around $25,000. We hope you have seen a flyer come
home for our first round of the fundraising campaign, “One Million Pennies for Our
Playground”! We thought this was a fun way to be a third of the way through our
campaign. We will be collecting for the next several months. We hope that the
students really learn how a penny can make a difference! Once we collect One
Million Pennies we will have a big unveiling! Stay tuned and keep sending in those
pennies!
I hope everyone has a restful vacation and we will see you in the New Year!
Thank you,
Charla Roth
PTA President

December 2016
Dear Elden Families,
Happy Holidays! I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving this past month. I cannot believe we are approaching the
2016 holiday season already! Where is the time going? Here are a few highlights from November:





We collected 55 shoeboxes of personal items for the needy for the United Way’s Community Shoebox Project. Our goal was
to collect 7 boxes and as you can see we surpassed our goal tremendously!
Ice Skating at Lysander Arena on November 5th was a blast!
Our Math and Movement Family Fun Night was a lot of fun with a huge turnout!
Welcome Sara Fredenburg- she started as our new lunch monitor in the cafeteria!
Andrew Jung, Daniel Fenzl, Alyssa Martin and Benjamin Matus represented Elden in the annual Spelling Bee at Baker High
School. They will go on to the next round at OCC in January.
Our next PTA meeting is Tuesday, January 10th at 7:00pm. Please think about becoming a member today. The Elden PTA provides
wonderful opportunities for our students and their families. Ice Skating Night at the Lysander Ice Arena as well as our Math and
Movement Family Fun Night were events last month sponsored by the Elden PTA. Jump on board with the Elden PTA!
Although our enrichment day is April 1, 2017, (another outstanding event sponsored by our PTA), we would love you to join our
enrichment committee. Anyone wishing to help please contact: [email protected].

Congratulations to the winners of our
Back-to-School Challenge!!
The top collecting classrooms were:
Mr. Rindfuss, Mr. Hyland and Mrs. Dias
Each Box Top is worth 10 cents!! During this challenge we earned
$756!! Box Tops can be sent into school throughout the school year.
Make sure to check those expiration dates and send them in before
they expire. Just clip and send them to school in an envelope or
baggie with your child’s teacher’s name on it. Happy Clipping!!
The Elden PTA would like to enhance the Grade 3rd – 5th
playground and needs your help! We are asking students
and their families to help raise 1 Million Pennies to go
towards our $25,000 goal.
Have your child bring their pennies to their classroom
collection jar. There will be a classroom challenge for the
top classes that collect the most pennies!

Christmas Bureau Collection
November 28th-December 9th
The Giving Tree
December’s character trait is citizenship. Active citizenship
is what you do to make your home, school, neighborhood and
community better places to live. One way that Elden shows
its active citizenship is through The Giving Tree. Elden
collects items for those less fortunate in the Baldwinsville
area. Then the Christmas Bureau collects these items and
distributes them to local families in need.
Collection for the items will run from November 28th
through December 9th. Students can drop off items in the
decorated collection box in the APR. The Christmas Bureau
is accepting canned food donations and unwrapped gift items
for children and teens.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
For more information, please contact Beth Cavalieri at
[email protected].
Here are some gift ideas:
Crafts and school supplies
Accessories for hair, nail care products, and jewelry
Reading materials, such as books, magazines, word searches, and crossword puzzles
Items for personal hygiene
New and unwrapped toys for boys and girls
Games, puzzles, and stocking stuffers
