Atom
Atoms are like the building blocks
that make up everything around
us, they make up the elements.
Biology
Biology is the branch of science to
do with living things
Carbon
Carbon is a common element, all
living things are ‘carbon-based’
Chemistry
Chemistry is the branch of science
to do with what things are made
of and how the react with each
other
Ecology
Ecology is the science of how
living things interact with each
other
Element
An element is made up of one kind
of atom. Everything is made of
different types of elements
Evolution
Evolution is how animals and
plants have changed over many
years to become new types of
animals and plants
Experiment
An experiment is when you test
an idea (or hypothesis) to see if
something is true or not.
Hypothesis
An hypothesis is an idea or
theory that explains how or why
something is or behaves the
way it does. It is then tested by
experiment to see if it is true.
Particle
Particle are the smallest things in
the universe, they make up atoms.
Physics
Physics is the science that studies
the laws of the universe.

Look through the science presentation.
Can you find a type of science that is
similar to your favourite subject?
Police Officer
Start to do your own research. You
can use books, the internet, and most
importantly your teacher to find out
more about science.

Weight of Skittles
This experiment is to test if Skittles of the same colour weigh the same.
As you weigh the skittles, mark them down in the table below:
Brand name:Skittles
Number
Colour
1
Red
2
Green
3
Yellow
4
Purple
5
Orange
1st Skittle

2nd Skittle

3rd Skittle

4th Skittle

What can you find out from these results?
Are all skittles of the same colour the same weight?

What falls faster...
If a light object and a heavy one are dropped which
do you think will hit the ground first?
.......................................................................................... ..
.......................................................................................... ..
Try it! What happened?
.......................................................................................... ..
.......................................................................................... ..
Other than weight, what other differences are there
between the two objects?
.......................................................................................... ...
.......................................................................................... ...
What happens if two things that are the same weight but
different shapes are dropped at the same time?
Plants...
Do plants drink water?
..................................................................... ...
Where do they get it from?
..................................................................... ...
How can we prove this?
..................................................................... ...
Draw a picture of our experiment below
.......................................................................................... ...
.......................................................................................... ...
What do you think will happen if the heavy and the
light object are put in identical containers so they
are the same shape but still different weights?

Why do you think this happens?

Medical observations are tests that doctors and
nurses often perform to see how healthy a patient
is. They look at how fast your heart is beating, how
much air you get in your lungs and how hot or
cold you are. These can be good signs to say how
healthy or ill you may be.
