Citation analysis is a method of bibliometric which examine the frequency of the cited articles, authorship pattern of the cited articles, citations pattern, etc in publication. bibliometric is a branch of Information science which contributed quantitative evaluation of publication patterns of all macro and micro communication along with their authorships by mathematical and statistical calculation. Citations analysis is a process to establish the relationship between one works to other research works by mathematical and statistical calculations. The study covers the number of cited articles, authorship pattern of cited articles, document wise distribution of cited articles, consultation frequency of electronic citations and print citations, number of references per articles, year wise distribution of cited articles. The study concluded merits/ demerits of the journal which will be helpful for its further evaluation. Keywords: Citation analysis, Library and Information Science research, Authorship Pattern, Geographical area wise distribution, Electronic citations and Print citations. 1. REVIEW OF LITERATURE Lot of studies has been carried out across the countries on citation analysis in library and information science research. Some of the national and international studies are adopted for this study are given below Rattan, Kaur. Gurjeet (2015)2 has Hu. Ping-Chang & others (2010)4 conducted their citation analysis study on contributed their paper on “A journal coPakistan journal of library and information citation analysis of library and information science during the period 2006 to 2012. In science in China” and concluded the his study they have received 848 citations relationship and structure of LIS from 40 articles and calculated the growth of publications in China. Author explore that the citations, average citations of the 24 core of LIS journals have selected and articles, authorship pattern of the cited relevant data of co citations where articles, and etc. ranked list of the cited manipulated or calculated by the Chinese journal have been prepared by the author journal full text database by the China and also tested the Bradford law of national knowledge infrastructure during the scattering to this journal. Author highlighted period of study 1999 to 2009. Researcher carried out that 72 international LIS journals by Indian articles were published throughout the study contributors and also find out the authorship period, most of the article were publish in pattern, nature of collaborative research , year 2007 and 2008 with 14 number of research distributions, journal wise article, total 998 number of references was distributions of articles, state wise cited by the journal. The average citations distributions of LIS contributions etc. (13.7) of per paper was calculated by the researcher concluded that 84.13% literature author, the top most cited materials where was contributed in the form of articles, Delhi founded by the researcher was journals with was the most highest contributed state with 37.14%, researcher also highlight the top 10 85 contribution in the journal. 13 Citation Analysis of Journal on Library and Information Science Research During 20052014-Anubhav shah, Dr. Sharad Kumar Sonker & Kritika Sinha International Journal of Library Science and Information Management (IJLSIM) www.ijlsim.in Vol.2 (2) April-June, 2016 rank of the cited journal during the period of study. Nosrat. Riahinia (2009)6 carried out their study on “A 2003 to 2007 Citation Analysis of Library Herald” and find out that the journal has published 120 original paper during the period of study. 88% of the original articles where published in India. Only 16 international contribution where published in course of five year study. Chikate & Patil (2008)7 analyzed the citation analysis of the theses in library and information science subject submitted 3. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The basic purpose of the study is to analyze year wise distribution of cited articles, estimate the quantitative growth of articles by volume, authorship pattern of the ISSN: 2454-910X (online) by university of Pune. Author concluded that 42.2% citations out of 6,257 were examine from journals, Collage and research Libraries was one of the most cited journal by LIS researchers during the period of study which was cited 141 times, Bradford‟s law of scattering has confirmed by the author with geometric series in the form of 11:55:300. Researcher also highlighted the publisher wise distribution of the citations, subject wise distribution, language wise distribution and authorship pattern etc. publication, discuss the frequency of electronic citations and print citations, and document wise distributions of cited articles during the respective period of the study. 4. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The following objectives have been undertaken for the compilation of the study these are as follow. i. To identify the year-wise distribution v. To know the consultation frequency of cited journals. of electronic citations and print ii. To estimate the quantitative growth citations of articles by volume vi. To identify geographical distribution iii. To study the authorship pattern of of articles. the cited articles. iv. To explore the document wise distributions of cited articles. 5. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY The study “Citation analysis of Research is one of the open access refereed Library and Information Science Research journal published through Elsevier Library Journal” covers 10 year publication of the and Information Science programme. journal which includes 10 volumes and 44 Researcher concluded there citation analysis issues consisting 293 articles, 13751 cited with 293 publication from 2005 to 2014 articles. „Library & Information Science only. 14 Citation Analysis of Journal on Library and Information Science Research During 20052014-Anubhav shah, Dr. Sharad Kumar Sonker & Kritika Sinha International Journal of Library Science and Information Management (IJLSIM) www.ijlsim.in Vol.2 (2) April-June, 2016 6. METHODOLOGY Study examined the article published in Library and Information Science Research Journal over the period of 2005 to 2014. All article and their references are carefully and systemically examined to obtain appropriate data. Total 40 issues (volume 27 to 36) of the library and information science research journal have been consulted during the year 2005 to 2014.The details with regard to each published article such as title of the articles, ISSN: 2454-910X (online) number of authors, their institutional affiliations and addresses, no. of references with list, page number of tables and figures, etc., were recorded and analyzed for making observations. Tables are made by tally mark system counting one by one reference data and other information. All the data has been allocated and presented in difference tables. The Microsoft excel package has been used for the frequency counts and data percentages. 7.
