West Mercia Police – Freight Crime Arrests
At Hopwood Motorway Services, J2, M42, Alvechurch, Worcs., at
02.00hrs on Wednesday 1st March 2017
SEVEN parked and attended HGV’s were targeted and had their
curtainsides slashed. Products were stolen but a driver saw a white
van leaving the scene and alerted Police
At 02.32hrs Officers stopped a vehicle on the M42 and two males
were arrested and stolen products recovered

Essex Police – Load Theft Hot Spot
Overnight on Tuesday 14th to Wednesday 15th February 2017, in an
INSECURE Layby on the 12, near Witham, Essex
Offenders targeted a parked and attended HGV and cut side curtains to
semi-trailer. They stole car parts and then made good escape from the
scene
This is an unsafe and insecure place to park overnight and should be
avoided if at all possible

Essex Police – Load Theft Hot Spot
Overnight on Monday 20th to Tuesday 21st February 2017, in an
INSECURE Industrial Estate, Botany Way, Purfleet, Essex
Offenders targeted a parked and attended HGV and cut side
curtains to semi-trailer. They stole an alcohol load but were
disturbed by driver, who they then assaulted, punching him in face
before they made good escape
This is an unsafe and insecure place to park overnight and should
be avoided if at all possible

Essex Police – Load Theft Hot Spot
Overnight on Saturday 18th to Sunday 15th February 2017, in an
INSECURE Industrial Estate, Stonehouse Lane, Purfleet, Essex, off the
A282/A13 junctions
Offenders targeted a parked and attended HGV and cut side curtains to
semi-trailer. They stole a high value load of TV Sets and then made good
escape from the scene

be avoided if at all possible

Derbyshire Police – Trailer/Load Theft
Overnight on Monday 30th to Tuesday 31st January 2017, at a
Logistics Site, Hilton Business Park, Hilton, Derbyshire
Offenders entered site in a Tractor Unit by forcing locks and hitched
up a loaded semi-trailer. They then tried to steal another HGV and
Semi-Trailer but failed, so cut side curtains and stole part load also
Loads stolen were washing machines and toy train sets

PSNI – Trailer/Load Theft
Overnight on Monday 13th to Tuesday 14th February 2017, at a
company site, Drumconwell Road, South Armagh, N. Ireland
Offenders entered secure site by cutting locks to gates and then stole
keys to two HGV’s with loaded semi-trailers of soft drinks. They also
stole other goods from parked semi-trailers. They then left the site and
made good escape.

Cumbria Police – Load Theft Hot Spot
There have been several recent attacks against INSECURELY
PARKED HGV’s on the A66, around J40 of the My, Penrith,
Cumbria. Most recent offence occurred overnight on Monday 13th –
Tuesday 14th February 2017
Offenders targeted parked and attended HGV’s on a layby, east of
J40 on A66 and cut side curtains of semi-trailer. They stole food
products and made good escape
This is an unsafe and insecure parking area; avoid if possible

German Police – Trailer + Load Theft
Industry partners have alerted us to a recent incident in Wittenburg,
East of Hamburg, Germany
Driver collected loaded container from Port of Hamburg and drove to
rest stop “Autohof Wittenburg” on A24 Motorway, for overnight rest
stop.
Driver left loaded semi-trailer + container unhitched and offenders
stole semi-trailer and load of metals overnight

German Police – Trailer + Load Theft
Industry partners have alerted us to a recent incident in Ansbach,
West of Nuremburg, Germany
Driver stopped for overnight rest break at Rest Stop “Guisberg Nord”
on the A6 Motorway system. Offenders unknown cut curtainsides to
semi-trailer and stole tobacco products. Driver woke at 04.00hrs and
saw other HGV’s had been targeted also
This is not a safe place to rest overnight given recent attacks
