Harlingen CISD - Beginning the School Year
with Renaissance Learning
TO ASSIST YOU IN MANAGING THE COMPUTER SIDE OF RENAISSANCE LEARNING:
1.
2.
3.
Please create an account with the Renaissance Training Center. This site has a lot of good videos and I would recommend
you share it with your teachers and Instructional Facilitator as well. http://www.renlearn.com/training/
Hover over the GOLDEN menu bar to see LEARN BY PRODUCT TOPICS available.
Find the training you need for each product.
TO HELP GET TEACHERS READY TO USE RENAISSANCE LEARNING WITH THEIR CLASSROOM:
You are the only one with campus “backdoor access” to Renaissance Learning. Library Media Specialists assist with managing this
preparatory part of Renaissance Learning. Work with your facilitator or department heads to determine which teachers’ classes get
product assigned to them. For example, at the elementary level you may decide to assign A.R., Star Reading, and Star Math to the
homeroom teacher. Or at the secondary level, you may decide to assign A.R. and Star Reading to the Language Arts teacher and
assign Star Math to the Math teacher.

************* cheat notes*************
 Look at your classes. Choose Reading (or
whichever subject you will assign product to).
 On left menu tab – choose Assign Product
 Click the button that selects all products you
need and the other button that selects all
teachers you need.
 Click Assign (It does some behind the scenes work
as you wait.)
 Then click Done.
 Repeat for all Reading classes.
I used Reading as the example. You follow what is needed
for your campus.
2.
Creating Special Groups
a. If you have special circumstances where you
need to set up additional groups because
your students go to HOSTS for example or
you have an elementary with a
departmentalized Reading teacher, you can
create special courses for your school THAT
WILL NOT BE OVERWRITTEN. (This also
means they will not be updated each night
with the data rollover.) Since you are not
changing the original data set uploaded from
the district, you are allowed to create special
groups unique to your campus. This cannot
be done at the district level. So, it is
something you will have to maintain
yourself.

Choose “Renaissance Place” as the product.
c. You will need to choose:
i. ON DEMAND videos, the drop
down to RENAISSANCE PLACE
ii. Then, choose “Setting Up Courses
and Classes” Tutorial. (Remember
“courses” are something like a
subject. So, you could create a
course called HOSTS or
HOMEROOM. Then you would add
classes to it with the teacher's
names.)
