A Guide to the Spanish Major at UC Irvine 2016 - 2017 All courses for the major must be taken for letter grades. Residence Requirement in the major: A minimum of five upper-division courses required for the major must be successfully completed at UCI. By petition, two of the five may be taken through the UC Education Abroad Program, providing course content is approved by the Humanities Office of Undergraduate Study and the Undergraduate Director of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Testing Information: The Spanish placement exam is required for enrollment in any Spanish courses at UCI. Sign up for the placement exam at www.testingcenter.uci.edu.
