Introduction
The 2015 Yarmouth CNOBF Bid Committee would like to submit a formal proposal to host the 2015
Canadian National Oldtimers Baseball Championships. As past hosts (2006 &2009) of this event, we are
confident we understand the needs of your organization and are prepared, as before, to meet or exceed
your expectations during the event.
Community Profile
Yarmouth and Acadian Shores is a rural Nova Scotia community that includes a town of 8,000 located in
the southwestern portion of the province that is 100% committed to a sustainable and exciting future.
The people in our region are very proud of our successes and fully support events in our region.
Yarmouth and Acadian Shores is home to the largest commercial fishing industry in Atlantic Canada and
the largest lobster fishery in the world. This has formed the base of our economy for many years, and
has spawned many supporting industries. Event participants will have an opportunity to see this industry
first hand in their free time.
The culture in our region is richly diverse with French-Acadian’s comprising about 50 per cent of the
residents in our area. You will hear French spoken frequently throughout Yarmouth and Acadian Shores,
and see the Acadian tri-coloured flag waving proudly.
Yarmouth and Acadian Shores is becoming known as the authentic events capital of Nova Scotia because
it has hosted a number of events, including:
• 2006 & 2009 Canadian National Oldtimers Baseball Championships.
• 2013 CBC Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On! Redwood Cup
• 2012 & 2013 World Junior A Hockey Challenge
• 2012 Jeux de l’Acadie (Acadian Games)
• Nova Scotia Music Week (2009 – 2011)
This is only a short list of a rapidly growing number of hosted events thanks to dedicated volunteers and
committed municipal support. Yarmouth and Acadian Shores boasts state-of –the-art facilities, and we
are increasingly becoming an events destination of choice.
Most participants will fly into Halifax International Airport (YHZ) and rent a car and drive to Yarmouth (3
½ hour). All major airlines fly into this airport and can accommodate any additional travellers as a result
of this event.
The Yarmouth and Acadian Shores region combines a rich blend of heritage, culture and community
spirit – a place where the sea influences all aspects of life and Acadian warmth beckons you to extend
your stay.

Facilities
Yarmouth and area have the best facilities in the Atlantic Provinces thanks to our highly organized and
well-staffed recreation departments that take pride in the development, upkeep and maintenance of
these facilities. Maintenance teams from the Yarmouth Recreation department will be on hand
throughout the tournament to ensure the highest level of play.
We have six facilities that are all regulation size, two with lights, with the farthest distance needed to
travel taking less than an hour. There is adequate seating for spectators available at each location. All
fields have dug-outs and adequate parking. Most have washroom facilities and canteens, and if not
currently in place, arrangements will be made to have these facilities through temporary setups. Public
address systems will be setup at the fields as necessary.

As in the past, we will work with Baseball Nova Scotia to have all the necessary officials required for this

Social Events
As in the past, our committee will host a number of social events. We will arrange to host a golf
tournament on Thursday at one of our great local courses. Also, we would like to hold a few exhibition
games for those teams that would like to practice ahead of time. In addition, we will arrange for a
hospitality room every night hosted by one or more of our sponsors. As in the past, the biggest
attraction for many is our famous lobster supper on the waterfront.
