Dear Classmates

Dear Classmates,
Hope your Summer was eventful and fun with both family
and friends!
University Events
- Homecoming: 10/28-30/2016
- Our Penn LA: 11/1/2016
As we head into Fall, it reminds us to come back home to
Penn. This year’s Penn Homecoming is October 28-30,
2016, and it will be here before you know it. Mark your
calendar for our special themed Homecoming Weekend
featuring Arts and Culture, and come out to cheer for the
Penn Quakers as they take on the Brown Bears.
Please note that our Class President, Jayne Perilstein, W’80,
will receive the 2016 Alumni Award of Merit during
Homecoming weekend. In addition to her outstanding
achievement at USC Shoah Foundation, and her work with
the Trustees' Council of Penn Women, we all know how
tirelessly she serves as our class leader. I hope you can join
fellow classmates and friends in honoring Jayne at the Gala
on Friday evening, October 28 and stay to participate in the
rest of the weekend activities.
You can register for the gala and other Homecoming
activities, see's who's coming and find more information
about the weekend at:

“Class of 1980 Explorers”
The Class of ‘80 is preparing to kick off another year of our
partnership with Sayre High School in West Philadelphia
and Penn’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships.
With a new academic year comes a new name for the
program—the Class of 1980 Explorers!
The partnership began at our 30th reunion in 2010 when
class members discussed creating an ongoing community
service project. Since then the class has successfully
partnered with the Netter Center and Sayre High School to
create Penn’s first ongoing alumni outreach program. Each
year the Class of ’80 has organized a series of after-school
trips to different educational and cultural institutions in
Philadelphia. This year we are focusing the trips on career
awareness, internships, and post-secondary development
for the students.
We are always looking for additional Class of ’80 members
to get involved with the program. It’s as easy as showing up
for one or more of the trips with the students. Trips this fall
are scheduled for 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on October 13,
November 17, and December 15. For more information,
contact classmate Bruce McCullough, C'80, L'83 at
[email protected].
Also, remember this year’s Alumni Weekend is May 12-15,
2017. Though it’s not one of our major reunion years, it’s
always a great time to visit campus; catch up with alumni
and friends; enjoy a wide variety of faculty lectures and
